It would appear that our new IT "enhancement" will actually require that we type in our passwords more often than before.

From this weeks flight ops update:

My Many pilots and flight attendants have asked us to make it simpler to login to CCS, using a single password instead of two. Beginning this week, all users will now be able to login to CCS using only your Login ID and United Password.
While a single username and password will allow you to access most of the tools available in CCS, please note that due to security reasons you – temporarily – will still need your secondary CCS Password for a few areas: Master Schedule, Pilot Pay Register, Reserve Availability, Mutual Trade Offers, Real Time Trip Trade, Reserve Assignment Pickup and Reserve Aggressive Pickup. A second phase of updates, expected soon, will allow pilots to access these screens with a single password. for starting this thread.

My opinion only. Let Tom do it...the EZCCS guy.
This. The end.

It is NOT my job to teach anything iPad but I do run through that with the guys if they haven't seen it.
We used to have formal classes on how to operate. Then checks to proficiency. Now we are given a device and told to learn it on our own.

That's why so many pilots can't do $h..... with iPads, because geniuses like you are teaching them.

Preflight iPad! I bet, you bring your own (Made in China $10.00) power pack on board, because you can't figure out why your battery lasts only 3 hours. I can't wait for another news flash: United airplane emergency landing in (.) due to fire on the flight deck; apparently pilots have used cheep-o Chinese fake power pack not certified by UL, that overheated."
They are giving us special bags in the cockpit for that now.

I am sure there was a bulletin 14.74 months ago that i was supposed to memorize, or was it a CCS message that I quickly deleted so I could check open time?

Our current flight department is FUBAR. I think both legacy flight departments were much better.
The legal iPad preflight;

Battery charged.
No updates.
Current IOS
Current version of Jepp Pro
Current version of Content Locker
Current version of WSI

Your WSI isn't working because it probably hasn't been updated. Go to the UA App Store find WSI and hit the update button.

Jepp Pro, WSI and Content Locker need to be manually updated at times. They send out a bulliten telling how to do it when it is required.

iLog go to Content Locker, Content, iPad/EFB Help Guides, iPad line ops guide (iLOG)

To find the current approved versions of all the stuff mentioned above go to the UA App Store open it and at the top in the banner it says approved versions.

If it doesn't show up there it's because your browser history is overloaded. Go to settings, general, safari, clear history and website data. It will show up after you do that.

The approved versions maybir may not be what's installed in your iPad. That's why you have to check them occasionally.

The iLog explains how to do it. If you don't have any luck with the iLog send me a PM and I can run you through it.

Actually and apparently much to the surprise of an ignoramous like "da best" geniuses like me are not teaching the iPad. Just about everything I've learned about the iPad I got off the iLog. That thing is very good. And it is the approved iPad training guide for UAL.

Looking at the "careers" section on the United site, it seems like more than half of the openings at the Willis Tower HQ are IT-related. Just one data point, but it does seem like there is finally a more sustained effort to get IT out of the stone age....

They REALLY need to stop with the band aids, bailing wire and bubble gum. Bite the bullet and do a complete cutover to a more modern IT system. While we're making decent profits - a new IT system will pay for itself in the long run.

Would $26 Million be enough? I know where they could come up with the money.
