Reminds me of the Airbus Captain who insisted on using the 100's setting on the MCP Altitude selector as opposed to the 1000's setting or the 727 guy who refused to use engine anti-ice.

Guys can dream up crap all they want but when they start dicking around with SOP's and safety issues I don't care if they have 7 stripes.

Along with authority comes responsibility. What's next? He/She is going to tell me when I can use the head? I am completely happy being a subservient mofoF/O, but some things are out of bounds.

Doesn't matter to me, but yes the Captain does have that authority.
Nope... I don't ask permission when time comes to eat... I inform the captain prior to t/o that my plan is to get my meal immediately after we get to cruise, during X break, or in the bunk... I'm not asking permission. If the captain (small C) says nope then I'd be calling the FODM and telling him/her that we have an issue and can't depart until solved. Bottom line, I'm willing to follow guidance on how the flight will operate IAW the SOP... but whacked out power trip crap... no way. So if I want to eat in the bunk room I will... no company restriction and not a safety of flight issue regardless of what some power hungry captain might think.

Hahahahahahaaaa! I just had a vision of a captain storming back to row 25, snatching a bag of snack mix out of a passenger's hand, and yelling "no eating yet! I'm the captain! Nothing happens on this ship without my say so!"

I chuckled heartily to myself. Carry on...

Sounds like the next leap training might need to include the scene from The High and the Mighty.

Agreed, the good ones are really good, but we all have our warts!
