Kind of a goose/gander, me too thing.

LUAL or LCAL flight instructors who had 1,000 hours or 24 line months as PIC on either property qualified. They are called evaluators in waiting, they are basically in an evaluator pool. I don't know the total number of people who qualify. I think there is only one on the 777 fleet. And no, it's not me. There are a couple on the 756 and couple more on the 737 fleets. I missed it by 200 hours and 2 months.

You may be misinformed. The flight test group may fly under our contract, but they do not have seniority positions, and are not allowed to fly in revenue service, or even a generic ferry. They are a totally separate group. If UAL is furloughing, it may or may not affect the flight test group.

Yes, they are legitimate pilots, most with formal flight test school experience, and multiple higher degrees. They have to live in the bay area, and can't commute to a flight test job. Cost of living....

That is not even close to what the L-CAL flight test program was, it was nothing but a good old boys club.

Sorry to hear that. The SFO operation is a class act, flown by some of the best pilots in aviation. Glad the whole thing is fixed now. :)

It was called the "Gummer Squadron".
