The Company's demands are so far apart from ours on key sections, this CBA will not be done by the Company's targeted timeline. Oh well, I guess I'll just have to keep cashing my paychecks and enjoy the scope choke. I'm in no hurry!

Fist, please don't say this, it's tantamount to negotiating in public, and telling the company exactly what you would live with.

Second, we don't want that either. The company would love to "live with what we have" for as long as it takes. Every year they stall, is another year without contract improvements, whether a better reserve system, or pay raises.

Now is that mythical next contract when we will fix the other sections. Don't sell your self short, and don't tell the company that either.

I am cautiously optimistic. We have several things the company wants, this means we have leverage. And, I think the company does want labor peace. This is worth negotiating capital to the company. Despite what Kirby is saying about scope--which is a company tactic to negotiate in public-- I think he does want to compete and run an airline. These are the good times.

I’m not negotiating in public here, just pointing out that unlike any other contract since 2000 the company has ZERO leverage.

The new bonus program is an example of exactly how not to achieve that, across all work groups.

Due to the "me-too" clause , I would happily keep what we have rather than give up any part of scope ... both big and small ... we have tons of heavy aircraft the company would prob love to be codeshared out ... scope effects all types of flying ... and this business abiut owning a foreign carrier .. suspect

Hold the line

Well we all knew the scope was coming up for discussion. My money is on the MEC keeping the NC on a tight path to not change anything in that department.

Not negotiating in public, but here's the deal. Any MEC rep that gets week-kneed on scope will be recalled immediately. Hope the company is reading this, because in a union such as ALPA, the membership is the boss, and we, the pilots are atop the pyramid. Any MEC reps reading this.... If you even think for a second this pilot group will tolerate anything fast and loose on scope best to resign now so we can find your replacement. Got balls? if not, Better get some...

If you have your balls and have the big picture, than by all means, keep doing a great job. You have my support.

The company has no leverage. They are negotiating from a disadvantage. That's why they are bringing scope into it. If not on the high ground, go out and find some more ground to fight for. The union simply needs to counter with a new proposal, open up all the sections for improvement......Well see your scope section, and raise you all the sections........... Still not budging on scope.

Any MEC rep that puts such a lunatic fringe proposal up for a vote should be recalled. Then, we vote no, after the fools are recalled.

it should never even come up for a vote. No margin for accepting that silliness.

....And let the chest thumping begin..to be followed in a couple years by whining, teeth nashing and recall threats.

Same pattern every decade or so.

The pattern of pattern bargaining.

I sounds like I may need to review my governing documents. I’m prepared to follow the FOM, WOM, and Flight Manual in exacting detail. Precise, calculated, detail to ensure the safety of our employees and passengers. I will not overlook any detail, no matter how small.

So how do you operate now? What a dumb thing to say.
