They’re embedded in tonight’s MEC update. Discuss (without negotiating in public).

Will be curious to see how this is rebuffed. Hard to make the business case given what AA and DAL do (and they put out a good, safe product). That being said, I think we all prefer being trained by people that may actually have to fly with us. Perhaps they could actually implement the instructor job share provisions first as a compromise. Would certainly save money and still adjust for our migrant worker style seasonal flying.

TK is an easy target. I'll also be interested to see how this goes down.
I am not an instructor, nor do I aspire to be, but I must say, I enjoy the experience there, and I feel it adds much value and safety to our product and the profession. I think our pilots would fight for TK and the instructor cadre. I will. Another thing, by outsourcing instruction to retired pilots please keep in mind that these are not likely to be dues paying members in good-standing. I don't think it has much traction at ALPA. ALPA will want it's dues money. |

I think “modify JV” and “own a foreign carrier” are more worrisome than RJs (since I think that Maginot Line will not be breached).
The griping on the DAL threads is often about International flying (and ergo, wide-bodies) being flown by other carriers.... There’s scope at both ends of the spectrum. |

Our big mistake is we always try to “hold the line” on scope.
Then...in negotiations...we give a little. Our starting position should be to reduce RJ flying by 50% over the next 10 years. Negotiate from there. |
