Haters gonna hate, yo. Hate the game, not the player.

You can’t be mad at a kid who took advantage of a program offered by the company. This whole thread reminds of that joke......what’s the difference between a b!tch and a wh0re?

This kid works here now and will have 42 year career. Look at the top of our list today, the sub UA ‘78 hires are sitting at about that longevity. How much crap to you give them?

The smart money is on lifting this kid up, teaching him about labor’s past, and making a strong unionist out of him. Like it or not, he’s going to carry the torch to 2060. Shun him (and other young pilots) or teach them, that’s on us.

He’s got as much (maybe more) airline experience as a career mil guy. Apparently he met min standard which probably includes being current. So yeah, to the scantron, he’s more qualified.

Everything points to him being a ATCA grad.

If true, he met THAT min standard, but not OTS min standard.

Not every company hires people with zero jet time and no PIC jet/turbo prop. I know at FedEx we are still requiring the 1,000 PIC turbo prop or jet with a MTOGW 12.5k or greater. So he/she would not have met our minimums.

Pretty sure it went from required to preferred.

1500 hours total fixed-wing time as pilot-in-command (PIC) or second-in-command in multi-engine turbo-prop A/C or jet A/C or combination thereof (GTOW 12,500). A minimum of 1000 hours total fixed-wing pilot-in-command in multi-engine turbo prop A/C or jet A/C or combination thereof (GTOW 12,500 or greater) is preferred
Minimums:
-ATP
-1,500 fixed wing PIC/SIC multiengine turbine (at least 1,000 of which is PIC preferred)
Pretty sure at least 1 pilot hired at FedEx this summer didn’t have it.

The first (or early one) of many I'm guessing.

If his dad had any semblance of common sense he wouldn’t be spouting off at all that it was his kid that got hired at 23 amongst pilots. If you feel the need to brag do it towards friends outside of work. Only drawing uneeded attention to the kid.

One of the best posts I’ve read on here in a while...

Which I’m certain is not considered for a pilot job at United. He probably didn’t pass the Bar, or have an MCAT on file but still got hired. Go figure.

23 and no jet time and no experience is just flat out dangerous.
