Not to be snarky back but I was talking about a checkride with an LCA on the line. Knew all about the sim and a pre-planned event but not about when a check airman shows up for one of your flights and is about to sit in your jumpseat. Don't think an e-mail will suffice in that instance and quite frankly, wasn't aware that they could be denied.

Don't forget that you can address them as Capt Scab. That falls under our constitutionally protected freedom of speech. That always gets you off on the right foot for a check ride.

Although not spcifically addressed by the upa, denying a scab Lca would fall under the same Jumpseat rules as anybody else, imo. Not saying you wouldn’t get a phone call to justify the denial, but the Jumpseat belongs to the Captain. Period.

As Guppydriver stated above, It's the Captains jumpseat.

As for a LCA just showing up - that won't happen. You will know about it well in advance as your trip will get locked with a training modifier on it. Usually the LCA will call the Captain several days out. So what I'm saying is you should see that scab coming well in advance. Plenty of time to tell whoever you like that it WON'T be happening.

Well it happened to me this summer. I didn’t notice the LCK on my calendar until the day of. Sure enough the LCA showed up in the cockpit and apologized for things getting screwed up with the late (if you can call it that) notification.
