Uhhhh, never.

It’s up to the pilots of UAL to earn and command respect. It’s only the pilots who can show dignity and honor for the profession.

Managment, nor any other group, will ever have lifting the pilot profession up as a priority. As in never ever.

All “do the right thing” can mean is “will they abide by the contract”? Anything else is a pipe dream if you ask me.

You want respect, honor, and dignity? Go look in the mirror.

I know we keep bashing Kirby for his scope-approach, but I wonder if the apple doesn't fall too far from the tree. Is this Oscar's scope-rope-a-dope?
We've talked about this before. I am cautiously optimistic. But....our management, many different managements over the years, have repeatedly demonstrated a peculiar talent for ****ing away any employee good will we may have accidently had. No, I don't think they know how to treat employees with dignity. They being the collective management brain trust.

What is the incentive for management to finish a contract on time when our MEC is negotiating LOA's to help put out some fires out of a few pilots taking advantage by operating within the contract?

Oh, the 50 hour floor is gone? I still can't stop laughing about that one....At least the MEC is giving our chairman a THIRD term...

You should actually read the LOAs. If you do you will find that the same end of month conflict trip drops are available within certain limits on a six month rolling basis. The MEC seems to be focused on 'we' while others are far too often fixated on 'me'.

Pilots had figured out how to trip trade prior to the PBS award blackout and use the contract to their advantage with month end carryover. The MEC gives away this ability with an LOA in exchange for what? Nothing. Great the 50 hour floor is gone, I still can’t drop a single trip due to “no coverage.” So more BS.

Why are we giving stuff away during a full section six via LOA? This should’ve been fixed in the next contract, but no the company is winning on side letters so why would they ever expedite the next contract?

I've been pretty impressed with the LOA's we've negotiated up to this point. I don't see the brilliance in this LOA. I think we may have gotten snookered by management on this one.

I am reminded by a talk I once had with a very respected senior captain while I was a 737 FO back in the day.

He said "son, you're just a widget in a penguin suit. Don't ever think for a minute you're anything else. Management is management, and pilots are hired help. Management takes care of their own, and we take care of our own. If management is offering good will, it's only to use it against you later. Think of every transaction here as a negotiation with a prostitute. You negotiate what you want, and be specific, and management will do the same. It's all a simple business transaction, un-emotional, and unforgiving."

We have a lot of people here who want to take the joy out of what we do for a living. I ignore those people and take pride in this job. There are much worse jobs than this one, including other airline pilot jobs.

Plus I’m sure this was the rhetoric the scabs all told each other when he crossed the picket line.
