Since DGS is non-union with lots of part-time employees DAL enjoys a labor cost advantage, but it’s not as significant as a first glance at “labor costs” might initially suggest.
And they handle Ual flights in some stations so we actually contribute to their bottom line.

This, plus they wasted no time shutting down the very expensive northern HQ and moving everything south, as did AA- even at the cost of paying damages.

Both were smart enough to realize that costs in northern cities can be much higher, attracting talent more difficult.

Please do tell about the talent part of that assertion.

Yeah, that was NWA’s biggest problem.

The Negotiating Protocol Agreement says:

"Public communications regarding negotiations will be issued consistent with the spirit and intent of cooperative labor relations. The parties will maintain a professional, respectful tone and avoid communications that denigrate or contain derogatory language about the other party or any individual. To promote these negotiations, United and ALPA will maintain confidentiality regarding the proposals exchanged and discussions at the bargaining table."

They definitely are doing a good job of keeping negotiations under wraps.

Interestingly, the agreement also says:

"The Parties intend to negotiate, conclude and execute an amended UPA no later than December 1, 2018, taking into account the period of time necessary for completing all information sharing, bargaining, contract language changes, and each party's internal approval and ratification processes."

So that deadline has come and gone.

As will Dec. 1, 2019, 2020, 2021....

There's ZERO incentive to get a contract done by the company. Hunker in boys and girls...gonna be a long time before anything changes.

...so, if DAL does another contract in the meantime, I presume we get the #METOO snap up?

Not true. That provision of the Extension LOA only applied up until 1/1/18, so there's no snap-up anymore.
