Disagree.
Here's the deal. Recommending someone, or helping someone doesn't get a person in the door. So, to take it a step further, nothing should help, nor hinder. You make it on your own merits. No need for the gay pilots association, or any other association to provide any assistance, leverage, interview, or forum to assist an applicant. The only way to remove all sexism, or whateverism, is to remove all favoritism.
Want to be treated with respect? Earn it! That means earn your job, earn your place. Honestly the NGPA has outlived it's usefulness and is simply performing a newer version of discrimination. Some call it reverse discrimination. Whatever.....Thinly veiled or not, people have opinions. Mine is this....Earn it!
The instant I hear how some smarty-pants pilot capitalized on his affiliation with the NGPA to get the interview/Job, I simply pick up the paper and push the ignore button. Respect isn't given, it's earned, so earn the right to be here.
Rant over. sorry about that, but just tired of all the reverse discrimination.

I don’t see one person arguing about the “white man”!
If some on here would be less emotionally charged and more factual you would see that others on here are arguing the fact that why do we have to put people in classes? Isn’t that in of itself discriminatory? Whether it be sexual, gender or race to get a dam job. These so called groups are too segmented and biased. It’s ridiculous! You should get hired based on your qualification and skills. I don’t care who I’m flying with, what color they are, who they go to bed with, or what gender they are. I just want them to be qualified to do their job!
I’m sure the public sitting behind the cockpit door would agree!

I think these orgs exist to promote aviation careers for segments of the population that historically are not inclined or encouraged to pursue them. I'm cool with that. I don't necessarily think (and I could very well be wrong) that they are twisting any airline's arm to hire their constituents. They don't have to - every airline would love to be more diverse. To that end, despite the fact that the new hire photos are full of 30 -50 y.o. white males (WM), the real question is what percent of new hires are WMs, GPs, BAPs, or Ws as compared to the percentage of qualified applicants from each subgroup? That's the crux.

Meaning, sure, reach out to people that wouldn’t normally consider a career as a pilot for whatever reason. Get them pointed in the right direction and provide guidance and mentorship about the pathways. Give them scholarships, financial assistance, whatever to give them the chance they might not ordinarily have had. Once they get on track, why should there be any further assistance required? Why have a “job fair” for it? Get a job, build time, upgrade, become and LCA, whatever.
Let their progression and experience speak for itself on the application.
Sorry to break to anyone, but at OBAP, NGPA, WAI, and whatever else 99.99% of the pilots there are ALREADY COMM/ATP rated pilots looking for job. Its NOT a bunch of people that wouldn’t be looking at a pilot career showing up.
Even for a qualified mil guy, the time off and cost of getting a ticket to ORD, PSP, BNA, MCO, DFW, LAS, and wherever else NGPA/WAI/OBAP has a “job fair” can be pricey. As well as for a civilian 91/Corp, frac, or 135 pilot with no pass/Jumpseat privileges.

Stupid argument. There’s probably *always* going to be white males dominating this industry amongst others. The point is...Let’s say you have a group of 20 people with around the same qualifications. Let’s say five are women. The women are are going to get the *interview* first. Not necessarily offered a job. But they get the interviews first. The women at my outfit admit to it. A lot of these women had less quals than the men applying for the same positions.
These are just my observations. I can’t make this up. No desire to either.

Can this thread be locked yet?
I honestly just want pertinent info related to NGPA this year.
How many recruiters? Will BK be there? Briefing? Any one on one? Folks previous experience at NGPA?
Does this always have to devolve so badly?? Seriously...

Why is free speech so closely watched on this forum? Why are threads locked so quickly and who gets to decide? A forum is an exchange of ideas and opinions. Why close it?
If you don't like the comments, skip them. If you want to add and rebut them, please do so. If you have questions, ask them. Steer people back on track, whatever. I've seldom seen a forum so heavily moderated as this one.

I can skip a post or two, fine, but page after page of whining and complaining and argument......
