Nice job trying to back pedal though.

You know what takes effort?

Having the drive/determination/perseverance to do all the work to get your ratings. Then getting your first job, then getting your next job, then progressing in your career despite setbacks like downgrades, furloughs, career stagnation, etc.

Thanks for playing.
You know why United likes career fairs like this? Cause they have a stack of thousands of applicants who have the ratings, time, and career setbacks.(just like you mentioned) When they need to pick one out of a thousand applicant they go with the guy who took extra initiative to go to an event. Not the guy who is upset that his career is slow but refuses to do anything above or beyond the other guys to get noticed. I get it, you and many others think it’s dumb to have to put in effort to go to a job fair, volunteer, have union duties...etc etc etc, then after years of not going anywhere you need to find a scapegoat to blame.

Like I mentioned, it’s NOT MY problem.

I was simply stating FACTS.

But I guess when you don’t like what you’re reading and/or can’t accept FACTS, just go after someone personally.....

Imagine if it worked like back in the day of the scantron and app. In theory, people would simply get called/emailed based on those QUALIFICATIONS.

The only way to remove all sexism, or whateverism, is to remove all favoritism.

Want to be treated with respect? Earn it! That means earn your job, earn your place. Honestly the NGPA has outlived it's usefulness and is simply performing a newer version of discrimination. Some call it reverse discrimination. Whatever.....Thinly veiled or not, people have opinions. Mine is this....Earn it!

The instant I hear how some smarty-pants pilot capitalized on his affiliation with the NGPA to get the interview/Job, I simply pick up the paper and push the ignore button. Respect isn't given, it's earned, so earn the right to be here.

Rant over. sorry about that, but just tired of all the reverse discrimination.
If you can’t recognize that a white middle class or above male has a distinct advantage in attaining a pro pilot career than you are looking through rose colored glasses.

Does that mean that a white middle class male is less deserving of an opportunity? Of course not, but they don’t need any extra help to get them to the “competitive” line. A little bit of empathy will go a long way in understanding the situations of those not so fortunate as yourself.

What qualifications really matter after a few years of 121 PIC? Majors doesn’t care that you grease them on slightly better than someone else. I’ve flown with guys that have been flying longer than I’ve been alive that can’t fly half as well as a new upgrade; but at the end of the day they both got where they were going safely. Anyone with a clean record and PIC time shows that they can operate safely consistently and that they can get through training.

So how do you differentiate applicants? By their willingness to be a team player and engage in the types of activities and culture that united or delta or whoever wants to foster.

They don’t want the type of people that refuse to play “the game” because there are thousands of other competent pilots that happily play the game.

And yet they could simply do the open house/invite like they and UAL have done......

No need to give it a name, no need to “indentify” with (insert demographic here).

Simply keep progressing, keep the app updated, and get an invite.

Cost them basically NOTHING.

I think we’re dealing with an extremely different generation here! Progression, keeping apps updated, and getting an invite was all it used to be. Trying to tell the youngsters that is impossible. Going to a job fair doesn’t prove that you’re going the extra mile. Your career and history of growth is.

I apologize if you think the you was singleing you out. It was more a generalized statement. It’s a way to state facts when addressing an unknown group. Kind of like saying if you wish to travel oversees you need a passport. I guess I could reword it to “if one wishes the travel oversees he/she will need a passport.

You are making a prettty racist blanket statement there that many will find offensive. Open mouth insert foot!
