For the why United, the WORST thing you can do is look at how anyone else answered the question. The whole point of the question is to see how you can be creative and real. If you say anything about bases, airplanes, pay, travel, etc then that will get you shown the door. You need to be authentic. They know that the pay is awesome, the planes are awesome, and you get to travel for free. United is huge on core4. If you don’t know what that is l, then I suggest looking it up. If you can tell a story as to why you want to work for United that is heartfelt, deep and personal then that is a good place to start. United does a lot more than fly planes from point A to point B. (i.e the North Pole flights) They are involved in the community and do a lot of charity work. I suggest looking that up. Again, it is less about how much you know about it but how it has moved you to really being passionate for wanting to work at United. You see how answers about bases, airplanes, and pay may bend them out of shape? This is just my two cents.
A lot of what you listed is so far from the reasons why anybody cares about any particular airline that I can’t imagine how any CP would not think the candidate is a total liar. But I guess if your CP’s only want to hear about rainbows and bunny farts, then play the game…

However bases better not be the only unique answer to why?

You just need to understand what the game is and then play the game in a manner that is genuine to you. Don’t use canned answers, don’t lie, just figure out how their stupid feel good corporate BS aligns with your values and talk about that.
But don’t ever forget that their corporate ‘values’ only exist as a way to keep the wage slaves in line; it’s not meant for and it does not and will not ever apply to management, regardless of what they say.

I covered my WHY UNITED in the most honest and personal that I can be that encompassed the following four points:
PERSONAL - why do you REALLY want to to work for United that isn't money / base related
PASSION - you can insert how you got into flying and that your end goal is to fly for United for the next 3 decades without saying that line
PURPOSE - I shared my different values and purpose in life with their core4 and why I chose them over other carriers without saying so
PRODUCTIVITY - realistic goals in the next 15-20 year - I do want to become a WB Captain someday
I would say my Why United was around 2 minutes in the actual interview and I gave it the same gravity as the Tell Me About Yourself just like in the movie - the ending should make an impact as well in a honest no BS'ing way - I'm sure they are trained to see through that.

I think bases are fair game if you have answer that you can tie it up with to bring home. Like it being a hometown airline where you grew up, or a ability to spend some good quality time with relatives that live in a particular United base. But leave Money/Pay/Benefits off the table.
However bases better not be the only unique answer to why?

Its funny, when I was up for an officer program, which I got in ‘04 for the military I definitely mentioned the pay was a motivating factor jumping the ranks. Then, in my united interview I also mentioned the pay, based, and wide body aircraft. Passed both interviews. I think candor and integrity are good qualities. That’s just me
I mentioned that upgrade is a factor but that I realize it’s subject to change. Got the job , YMMV

Don't have any interview experience with Fabain, but he is a great guy. I am sure he will make the meet and greet super relaxed. Hopefully others can give more specific info, but I can tell you with absolute certainty he will do everything within his power to make it relaxed and enjoyable. Whoever got you the Meet and Greet with him is owed many beverages! (dont worry we will still buy you beverages as a new hire, you will just have to pay it forward someday as a Captain)
