ALPA history regarding illegal sick out.

Gotta agree here. Don’t want to be the “Neil Swindalls” of this forum so I’ll watch it in the future.

I agree with Joe, people use message boards to hide under their stripper pole screen name often . I often say, don’t comment or type something you wouldn’t want your name attached too. I have mentored a couple aviation camps over the years for some young kids . And one of the things I talk about often is the presence of internet curtains , be it a screen name or internet bullying, Esp in this business. I read some comments on here that I know for certain would not be said to a guys face .... that’s just weak sauce . Either grow balls OR just have better manners .
That being said . Only two years at United, I’m always fascinated at the stories like the one above mentioned . Happened well prior to my time , so would love to learn the history . Thx for sharing . Will get more data.

The company could have hurt these four guys much worse than they did. That is a fact. However, that is not what they were after, and exactly why the four got their jobs back. UAL mgt wanted to send a message loud and clear and they did just that. Criminal charges could have been brought (via much longer court proceedings) and UAL had an open and shut case. The injunction was plenty good enough to get the message across. It was a much faster process and served their purposes just fine. This is why they chose the injunction route instead of criminal charges.

Pay my dues every month? Of course! ALPA is my agent. Just make sure you don't break the law, or you could go to jail...or even worse, the judge could suck out tens of millions of dollars from ALPA's bank account

With only 26 posts, it took me less than ten minutes to sample them. Your opinion is, of course, your own but it flies (no pun) in the face of most of my union brothers.
If that's your politics, fine. But if you have a hidden agenda you ought to be upfront about it on a primarily labor forum. I am not Lizzie Borden WRT labor/company ops. I am from the camp that believes that most of us want to work for an industry-leading juggernaut airline and kick DAL's a$$. We're willing to pull hard on the rope, just as we did when pulling the company out of the horrid operational morass that occurred during the MANY years of lousy performance following 9-11. I want us to lead in every metric, especially PS. But, I don't want us to be bludgeoned with that rope, and I don't want UA mainline flying jobs being parcelled out to commuter airlines. I already took one for the team, I don't want to take another.
Meanwhile, it's now silly-season and we have a ton of new hires, many of whom have zero experience in this realm. It would be great to proceed with all of us on the same page. Tailored messages and propaganda tend to stand out, and they also carry a particular stench. Anyone who lived through the BS of the bankruptcy and continues to carry their water gives me pause.
This is a big reason why I don't trust this forum and may curtail my participation as we move further into the negotiation process.

Do yourself a favor: Read the case. Look at the evidence. Think objectively. Group-think and mob mentality are very dangerous.

Too funny! There's a magazine called PROFESSIONAL PILOT that has been virulently anti-union for longer than I have been flying. Must just be a coincidence. They used to write about (and fawn over) Clay Lacey the SUPER SCAB every other month. You must know Murray Smith!
I often wonder why guys who hate the idea of organized labor work so hard to become highly paid airline pilots, considering that their high pay and standard of living is a direct result of being unionized. Hell of a conundrum!
And, I guess you're not a full-time line puke.

I did and I attended the hearings. All United was asking the judge to do was to order ALPA to abide by the RLA, a very small legal ask indeed.
Then the company subsequently got their asses kicked in front distinguished arbitrators for their abusive actions towards a couple of employees who were completely vindicated and in doing so undercut UAL's entire case. Go read those decisions.
Again, you don't know shiite.
And brags about his big paycheck on this forum. Too bad we can't let such a rugged individualist negotiate his own personal contract that he so richly deserves.
