UAL spent months getting a subset of Guam 737’s configured and certified for the island hopper. 40 degrees of recline eliminates the row behind it, unless you shift how the seats are laid out. Basically think of the old first or business class recliners (before lay flat was the norm) as the minimum of what’s acceptable.

And again no coach seat as a rest seat for augmented flights.

5-J-4 Seats comparable to Economy or Economy Plus are not acceptable for crew rest.

How many narrowbody jumpseats can recline 40 degrees?
Delta once had rest facilities in the cockpit. The jumpseat swiveled and reclined. Regardless they would use a first class seat. They already recline 40 degrees. All you need to add is the footrest.

Or you know, at least get domestic crew meals, guaranteed Economy Plus for DH, middle seat pay, RHA VEBA, 117 extension pay, new hire hotels and guarantee, or any of the things that add value to our operation every day.

At least if they fixed their international JV problem they could have routes more than 12 hours to use two captains on.
I posted because things that were blatantly incorrect were put out. If your going to get the best contract you can get which benefits me I would think you would want accuracy in comparisons.

That’s such a moving target that your synopsis is not valid. Have way more than I want in that fund and if my wife and I drop dead, bye bye money. All I’m asking for is a choice. That choice would allow you to put 5 gazillion dollars in the fund while I stay happy at $100k. Seems very reasonable to me.

Unfortunately the IRS doesn’t currently agree with you. It would be great if it changes and you can pay your taxes on that money but for not it’s not allowed. I posted the link to the ALPA R&I Q&A page on it.

Btw you had a sillly argument. If you and your wife sadly die immediately after retirement then who cares? Your entire estate that was built up to live your retired life goes to whoever you want and the small RHA goes to your fellow pilots.

Not silly in the least as its monies, (in my case $100,000+), that I could have invested and left to my heirs. Why does Delta pay theirs out as taxable income after the fact or is that "silly" as well?

That was before FAR 117 and it wasn't a jumpseat, it was a cheesy "build a hammock" setup. They also had an air return on a flight headed to Asia because a CA couldn't rest in their ridiculous setup. Just "adding" a footrest isn't as easy as you imply, UA had to do a major retrofit with their GUM 737 fleet to be able to fly the island hopper.

DAL is hiring........

It’s silly because if you die early you left a hell of a lot more than you planned to leave your heirs.

Worst case you leave your heirs multiple millions in your B fund that the 16% provided and the extra over $265k into your VEBA to your union brothers and sisters because you were so fortunate ebough to be a WB CA for longer than the average person hired.

Heaven forbid your windfall help out your ALPA brothers and sisters because you and your dependents in your family had an untimely death. I am glad I don’t fly with independent contractors like you.

Nice tie.

What a pompous a$$. Perhaps you should donate $100,000 randomly to one of your ALPA brothers just because its the "right thing to do". Please let us know where and when so we can see just how magnanimous you really are. Sorry that some of us don’t like your precious VEBA program and your pride of authorship is glaring through like a beacon.

All I asked for was a choice but you seem hell bent on shoving your glorious unilateral idea up everyone else’s arse because you’re convinced it’s the greatest thing you ever came up with.

Sure hope I’m not arguing with Fred Greene as I’ve always had a ton of respect for him.

What a strange comment about an "Independent Contractor" because I disagree with you. Sounds like you take criticism quite well and as far as donating hundreds of thousands of dollars, Fantasyland can be found at either Disney Park Sir.

This term "Independent Contractor" gets thrown out every now and then by a handful of guys.. WTF?

So it's either your way or the highway?

Our union just sent out a blastmail about social media and forums.. guess some don't like the fact that there are those of us asking valid questions and giving our opinions. Oh well.

Funny how Delta (our union brothers & sisters?!) have both a Facebook Group dealing with their upcoming contract, interesting discussions on this forum AND more importantly..

https://contract2019.org/

757Driver has brought up a valid question.. and it is important to compare us with with Delta has.. they are our DIRECT competitors.

Personally, wow.. 100K in the VEBA?! Nice. I'm at a fifth of that!
Luckily (hopefully) I will have my Military Retirement and TriCare to help out~

Motch

PS) Flame Suit on for the inbound attacks from the usual suspects!
