I don’t like the regional model either, but how would dissolving it alleviate the current crisis? And I’m just pointing out that if little planes were at your airline, they would be avoided like they are here, although I think the 190 will also die a quick death here shortly.
Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Among many other benefits, it brings additional flying home, which would give potential mainline furloughees a flying seat. This, while taking away a tool that can be used against us. It also raises the bar for all pilots by doing away with minor-league C-scales. It wouldn't happen overnight, but that’s the way we (ALPA) should be thinking, and the direction we should be steering things. |

Again, so? That just indicates pay rates need to be adjusted at AA. We don’t have the 175/190 here, so setting a commensurate pay rate would be part of the process of bringing everything to mainline.
Sounds like you guys like to keep defending outsourced flying. How’s that worked out for you so far? |

A lot of airlines have pay rates in their contracts for aircraft they don't currently fly...I am willing to make a reasonable bet that UAL has 190 pay rates or something equivalent listed in your current CBA already. I know we (AA) have pay rates in groups, but we have many aircraft types listed in our JCBA for those groups that we don't currently fly. And I know for a fact that Delta has 195, 190 and CRJ-900 rates listed in their PWA...my point is setting that commensurate pay rate may already be done.

Once United and other majors declare bankruptcy I would plan on a shift of NBs to the regionals.
The day that happens is the last day I ever enter a UA cockpit. Every pilot on the property should just...walk. Let Kirby choke on a fleet of empty WB planes and try and staff the NB at the regional level. We are not SWA. This company depends on WBs and its global network to pay the bills. They will eviscerate us in Chap 11 just as they did before. Agree to nothing. We screwed ourselves last time and showed the world just what Ho's we really are. This time, let the judge decide. And be sure to put on some comfy shoes. |

If you're suggesting that UA management takes the guppy and bus fleet and delivers them to the subsidiary's I say this.

If all the UA pilots walk out today, no one will notice it in this environment. If UA is considering big moves, the time is now.

If any airline went away in this environment, no one except the employees would notice, however it will be a cold day in hell before a regional airline flys legacy routes with a 737 or a bus. The only type of person who would hope for something like that would be one who had applied to that airline, didn’t make the cut during the interview process(possibly twice), and is now bitter because others have made it.
