That’s a good point. I didn’t take my thought process to if current OTS are being hired from non-exclusive carriers. You make very good points. I’m just excited to hear from more and more sources that all qualified aviate candidates will be in class by end of year.Originally Posted by junglejetpilot

To be fair, it makes total sense to keep people in the pool (Aviate) and utilize them slowly and hire as much OTS as you can. Keeping competition from getting OTS while maintaining a healthy pool of applicants in the Aviate program who remain cautiously optimistic. I hope i'm wrong though

UA has made it through all the pre-COVID OTS hires/CJO’s.
Currently OTS who interviewed in May 2021 are being offered classes in July.
To my understanding, CPP have pretty much all been offered class dates.
Aviate candidates who have finished transition requirements that interviewed prior to March 2020 are still waiting for class dates. Until Aviate candidates start getting classes, it is pretty much true that current OTS interviews are getting class dates before Aviate.
This may change by the end of summer, but I guess we’ll see. I agree that I don’t think it has much to do with the “lets keep the regionals staffed,” because current classes are mostly being filled with pilots from regionals who just interviewed in May.
So if a pilot from any carrier outside UAX interviewed in May 2021 he is offered a class Originally Posted by Futurestrupwfl

in July 2021?? And there are aviate candidates who interviewed in 2019 and meet all of the requirements but they have to wait for God knows how long ?
That’s not right . If they keep that up the aviate will be equal to the AA flow ,5-7 years .

- Do the networking.
- Get those references to write you LORs.
- Build your point total up on your app via any number of ways that have been mentioned over and over.
- Get your resume’ up to snuff (not just = I is a rj cappy - that Jumpseat’s on airbuses, so you don’t even need to put me in the “full qual “ course....)

I don’t think any Aviate people (outside the CPP) have received class dates yet from any of the regionals. It makes sense that off-the-street hires would be prioritized over the Aviate candidates, since they need the regional pilots to stay at their regionals for the summer. It definitely seems that getting the off-the-street interview will get you to United much more quickly.
Thanks again for the information.
Not sure how the rest of the classes look, but our class had about 25% of the students from the CPP/Aviate program.Originally Posted by BobbyLakes

While the CPP and Aviate programs are separate, they put the 2 of them together for the new hire class pool and mentor programs. The CPP/Aviate pool will be dried up soon for qualified candidates. Most of those left in the pool do not have the hour or time requirements fulfilled and they will have to hire the majority off the street anyways.

You obviously don’t know me or anything about me save a few silly posts that I enlightened everyone with . I’m fully checked out on the Airbus because I’ve been in the jumpseat?? Really ? Anyone with half a brain knows that was a joke and not to take it seriously.Give me a break .
What do you think most of the off the street guys are anyway? Wait for it ——- rj cappys,as you phrased it .
Yoi can have LOR’s ,a polished resume and all that you mentioned and meet or exceed all of the qualifications requirements , in addition to being in Aviate .In my opinion, taking off the street from May 21 , where everyone passed the exact same interview process , prior to people who interviewed two years ago doesn’t seem right to me , that’s all I’m saying.

1.get hired
2. work your way up to being manager of pilot hiring,
3. change the process

If they are keeping with the norm, most OTS hires are military, since the classes traditionally are around 50/50 civ/mil on average. But I haven’t been on the jumpseat of the bus lately, so what do I know.Originally Posted by idlethrust

***AND THAT PROVES MY POINT***
Theres 1,000’s of rj cappys - what makes you a different? Outside of Aviate, did you get interviews at anyone else? That’s all I’m saying...

Well , as a matter of fact I did . Did not want to move to the west coast and the other offer was from an airline that only has day trips on the wait
for it ———the Airbus . Since I’ve Jumpseated on it , I’m fully qualified.
I still have a lot of sticks in the fire so to speak , well beyond this .The first one that I like ,that I feel is a good fit for myself and family I will take.
Whether it’s UA., Delta who knows , time will tell .
So no sir , you have a mute point .
