Well, that doesn’t sound that far off from the CPP’s that went into final review a quarter before they could get a class date.

The big picture - these guys interviewed in 2019.
And A LOT of CPP’s had to wait 2 years for a class after being “accepted” till herring a class date.

”big picture”, these guys aren’t having to endure anything many before them didn’t.

And for the CPP’s, the hiring “lull” at that time was much shorter than the one caused by COVID.

Yeah, it’s funny listening to these complaints. From interview to class date was 18 months (old CPP)

Interesting. Why was that?

The program administrators are now saying that going forward, candidates can expect to transition 60-90 days after meeting the program requirements. That’s great news for the program and more in line with how it is marketed.

1) As mentioned, there was a lull in hiring for a while in 2016. Mainly due to the 737 training choke as well as the TK being a cluster due to construction, etc. Spring/summer/fall 2016 was nothing but CPP interviews, no OTS. We weren't running classes. Then, first OTS classes with the % meter of CPP didn't start till Jan-Feb 2017 with a pool of CPP's that was almost 300 deep if I recall correctly. So many of those that were interviewed/selected 2016 went into that deep pool. But also of note was that interviews didn't go in seniority order. So maybe a junior pilot interviewed way before those senior to them, but had to wait out their turn.

2) When the hiring picked up, it was simply the slow/metered trickle and the % of CPP to OTS hires.

So many of those 2016 interviewees didn't go till 2018.

That's great news!!!!

Only took 5 years for them to straighten it out and get it right.

That is yet to be determined, right? It hasn’t happened yet. But I’m hoping it does for those that follow.

The last couple decades of career progression sucked for so many pilots for so many reasons (9/11, 2008 economy crash, age 65, covid, 737 problems). But just because pilots endured challenges in the past doesn’t mean we should wish that on pilots moving forward now. That wouldn’t make sense.

Same here.

Yep, myself (and many others here) check most of those boxes. As much as COVID sucked/continues to suck, it's a mere blip compared to the regression we dealt with over 9/11 and the recession combined with age 65.

Agreed. But there are times when before you b1thch, you should have some perspective.

Answering a persons question of what 2.5 months referred to is not “*****ing”. It is answering a question.

As far as perspective - I check every single one of those boxes, to a degree better shared over a beer. Rest assured. My perspective is intact.

Regardless, I appreciate that this program is getting to the point that it will work as advertised. I mentor young pilots, and I’ve been watching this program closely before I recommend it.

Here was the b1tching part;

Yea. Still no.

That was to give perspective because I thought the guy asking the question was thinking the 2.5 months was from interview to receiving a class date. So I was preemptively telling him when the interviews were, to make it clear that wasn’t the 2.5 months being referenced.

Maybe lost in translation.

Now that that is all cleared up, if you were mentoring new to 121 pilots, would you recommend this program?

Turbine PIC

I am just curious about all the hiring that UA is doing, are they hiring guys with no PIC turbine time perhaps?
