Just got off a trip with a FO in Aviate, and he like many wasn’t happy with the program. Zero communication and no movement at all. According to him, no Aviate people from us at AW or MESA/Commutair in august even though they were promised that. They have asked if they are slowing the transition to United due to the Aviate regionals being understaffed and have been assured they won’t be held back due to regional staffing. At least that’s what they have been told. Reality seems to be different.

Makes my decision easy, definitely not doing Aviate. This seems to be a program for someone starting out, but not for a pilot with experience. Another LCA friend of mine at CA texted me saying that he regrets getting into this program. Interviewed back in early Dec 2019 and still nothing. Really sad. He, like many in the program are interviewing and accepting jobs elsewhere instead of waiting in this lineup. Can see the frustration and exhaustion of waiting around for this program instead of excitement. I’m too old for this drama. OTS it is.

I personally know 1 in the class that started last week and at least 2 that will be starting this week from ZW. So it is still flowing but at a slower rate. There are a few on deck from ZW that have been requested and are awaiting class dates.

With the slow rate right now and their own goal to get everyone that qualifies in by March, I think they’re waiting till fall winter for larger Aviate groups when flying has slowed down and the regionals can catch up on hiring. Sucks for us but I get it. The thing is they can just tell us the plan. I feel dumb saying any day now for who knows how long when my Envoy friends have a rough estimate.

The program wasn’t made for experienced pilots. It is designed for newer pilots ideally being steered into flying for the lower tier (cheap) UAL regionals. United saw those regionals obviously having recruiting issues because they’re cheap, which is why United likes them. So to keep them going the CPP and Aviate were designed.

Covid hit just before they started dipping into CFIs and college kids and making the flight school. So it looks like this was a trap for experienced pilots, but really they never got to a point where they could use the program as it was intended. Until now, because those regionals are hiring again. We’ll all find out if Aviate is able to recruit enough younger pilots into these regionals. Otherwise UAL will have a problem on their hands. That is unless they literally buy a flight school and send people into those regional airlines contractually………….

I can confirm that at least one XJT Aviate person got a class date for September (me).

Super excited and appreciative for the opportunity, but I would hope that the communication improves for those going forward. It's been a very stressful couple of months.

Any other Aviate folks get the much anticipated email?

Legacy or ASA?

A d-bag of epic proportions that thinks he’s the smartest guy in the room and knows what’s best for everyone.

Meanwhile letting himself be his own worst enemy and getting in his own way.

He was also on the RJDC ie memory serves.

Stranger things have happened/worse people have made it through.

But for the most part, thank god he’ll probably never be hired here.
