Well then what do they have to lose?

Besides the money?

If I’m the company, I’ve negotiated in good faith with the pilots to provide a much higher cost manpower reduction than what furlough provides. I don’t hold out any expectation that the company will expand the demographic, the next move is they turn the dial at the other end of the spectrum via furloughs until pilot costs are where they want them.

I doubt this loa cost the company much. How many training events get saved?

As per most bids there are a ton of guys that withhold their bid until last minute. They think its fun or a sneak attack. Happens every bid.

So, has anyone heard that UAL and ALPA are going to possibly negotiate lowering the min age? The question was asked during the flight ops townhall and Bryan Quigley mentioned that the company and ALPA were working on some things but remained nonspecific. Curious. With only 210 takers of the VSL so far, what will they shoot for WRT numbers?

Company wanted something in return for them to lower the age, ALPA said they did not see any value in giving up something yet which was a wise move. As of last Friday we had 242 takers, I expect the numbers to be closer to 500 this Upcoming Friday. I’m pretty sure the company and the union are waiting to see if we’ll get additional money from the Cares Act 2 which could be a game changer for every Airlines, because there won’t be a need to entertain lowering the LPA just yet and give the market a bit more time to recover.

My 2 cents.

I know, "concessions" were off the table... but something has to give.

I suggest we offer to give up the "energy bars" provision of our contract (4-A-3), that requires the company provide candy bars... e.g. "energy bars"... in the crew rooms , for the pilots that can't figure out how to go a few hours between meals.

I believe this could be considered a major concession by the company, and could ultimately keep some pilots off of the street if we negotiate it carefully.

You are definitely part of the Flat Earth side of the pilot group.

Negotiating in public here but I would give up the candy bars for no pilot furloughs and a majenta Miata at retirement.
