Things are worse because the future bookings that they planned on didn't materialize. Plus a lot of cancellations.
So the $25M/day cash burn in Q3 will end up being too optimistic.
You're glossing over other problems that are starting to surface. Take a look at loan delinquencies. Main street is showing severe economic distress.

Note: The nearly 4 percentage point jump in the delinquency rate was the biggest quarterly rise in the history of MBA's survey,
Worst increase in the history of MBA's survey. That goes back to 1990.

My point is the company has been shouting from the mountain tops the unprecedented drop in revenue. Yet, been coy about the reduction in costs. TSA numbers are higher for Q3 vs Q2. Cares money will run through the quarter, which for q2 was accounted for in the cash burn.
What is become evident is our management team is truly more concerned about the bottom line than our peers. Core4 and all.

RJDio, I've had COVID. It wasn't that bad; over it in less than 2 days. I got it from my wife, who was wiped out for 3 weeks.
I don't know when the public's fear of COVID ends, but there are a lot of people who are very scared of it and the news cycle isn't helping.
I don't hang my hat on the industry recovering after a vaccine's available because then the economic carnage will be at the top of the news cycle.
On your last statement, I'd phrase that our management is more concerned about the company surviving this than other airline managements. Perhaps because we've already borrowed as much money as we can and don't have any more lines of credit to tap. I don't know, but right now, the proper course of action appears to be that they cut to the bone.
I'm near the end of my career so it isn't going to hurt me too much should I get furloughed for a third time or United goes Ch 7, but I'm willing to bet that many of the people who are screaming about management have a lot longer left before they're eligible for a social security check.

Every airline has gone into some sort of survival mode. Kirby and company have done a monumental task in reducing costs (69%). My contention is that it seems like our managements final objective is to preserve cash at all cost instead of finding a balance of a“new and improved culture”and cash.

Andy, I’m glad you and your wife made it through Covid unscathed. I don’t mean to diminish the threat Covid can pose. However, the media, IMO, has caused irreparable harm by exacerbating the realities of the virus statistically. I don’t know what effect a vaccine will have on public opinion, but unless it becomes an “I am Legend” scenario, it can only help.

I don't know what's going on in WHQ, but let's keep in mind that from most descriptions, Kirby's a cold calculating numbers guy. More a Mr Spock-type than a human for the Star Trek fans. He's not Oscar and never will be so anyone looking for an Oscar/Gordo type is going to be disappointed. I'd more call him cast from the same mold as American's Crandall - to expect otherwise will lead to disappointment. To paraphrase one of the Seinfield characters, 'NO HUGS FOR YOU!'
Personally, CORE4 doesn't mean crap to me compared to keeping the company out of bankruptcy. And I think that Kirby's probably the guy to have at the helm during this sucko time.
In closing, I've got Dio tracks playing from youtube right now; I'm a fan (RIP RJ). Reminds me of Ritchie Blackmore.

RJDio, I fully agree that COVID has been overblown by the media. One of the problems with COVID is that the severity of it varies so greatly between individuals. So of course the media goes for 'if it bleeds it leads' and cherry picks the worst cases. But that has put a lot of fear into people out there. ... just wait for someone to come along here and complain how I've trivialized it.

If you’re YouTubing Dio May I suggest the heaven and hell performance at Radio city music hall.
