How about this nugget they slid in there. A BRAND NEW paragraph as it relates to middle seat pay:

5-C-1-g-(1) Notwithstanding section 5-C-3, a pilot may be re-seated out of an Economy Plus middle seat into an Economy Plus aisle or window seat if such seat is made or becomes available (due to any reason) prior to Departure.

So the gate agent can tap you on the shoulder just prior to door close and give you a misconnect's window seat. I'm not sure if this was allowed before (it's never happened to me like that), but there's a reason the company added this language....and it will likely stay in our contract for a looong time.

I can’t even begin to understand why you are upset about what this paragraph says......only seat on the jet is middle and the agent gives you a window and you are going to be ****ed?

Are you assuming they'll tell you when they re-seat you in the computer? Can you imagine being denied middle seat pay after actually sitting in 9B during the flight because the computer says 21A? Nevermind, I'm sure that would never happen.

Axl, if this happened to me, I’d grieve it and explain that I was never reseated and I’m 95% sure I’d get paid. And in that particular situation the fault lies with the gate agent, not the pilot pay person or pilot. is it annoying… Yes. But for potentially $500 after taxes… I will take the 20 minutes to grieve it. I have found that if things are done in good faith on my end, I am always paid per the contract. YMMV. One of my best friends works for AA and that is certainly not his experience.

If you want to feel like a victim, there are 1000 places to feel mistreated in this job. Starting with things that actually matter, like every single health study that sites regular sleep cycles as one of the best things you can do health wise after managing weight and getting your heart rate up.

I stand by my statement but change to 2007, good catch

My post was in response to the new language re. seat assignments. There will be consequences for this change. I just gave you a preview of how it will be abused. You really need to look at this TA with more skepticism.

That is some serious tin foil hat stuff there Axl......I get the skepticism but I feel like you are down a rabbit hole here. Like Duvie said grieve it and if you are truly that mistrusting then snap a picture of the seat you gave on the United app. Every seat change has a traceable time stamp.

There certainly are timestamps. Perhaps that's why you see the new language?

f such seat is made or becomes available (due to any reason) prior to Departure[QUOTE]

You can call it tinfoil league I guess, but the language is clear in what it says - and what it doesn't say. I guess we'll see what happens if the TA passes.. Tinfoil hats aside,, are you really this trusting of management?

not necesarily I just think this would be a very easy win for the grievance committee and I think the company has better things to do then change seats at the last minute to force you to sit in a middle seat for free.

that language wasn’t written by the company because quite frankly they could care less what seat you sit in in economy. That was written to prevent a gate agent from saying I’m to busy to switch your seat goodbye.

Did your LEC rep verify how that language got included? I hope your read is correct.
