I found it informative. More knowledge and thought = better decisions in the future than I made in the past.

Now it’s informative? Recently you were preaching it doesn’t matter what Delta received because they are different. You wrote...

“And you are looking at what to you appears to be greener grass without realizing UAL and DAL are not the same, have different management with different goals walking into negotiations, and above all different CBAs.”

Yet now you feel it’s informative and you can use a Delta comparison so you can make better decisions.

Even in the above quote you’re looking to diminish what Delta gained. Heavy water Lee.

DAL guy here - Considering the environment I think both groups have a pretty good deal. This industry disruption is unlike past disruptions becasue it was partly government mandated and not merely part of the business cycle. The CARES act totally muddied the water on the standard furlough plan and a new solution was needed.

My two UAL buddies (upper middle third CAPT and lower middle third FO) both voted yes - the former gained much more than the later, but in the end they both were for the deal. At DAL there was overwhelming support. Neither deal was perfect becasue in the end some will always gain more than others. If every deal has to have a similar impact up and down the seniority list - most deals will never be made.

One final thought - we are still in the middle of this and have no idea how this will turn out until we are looking back. In retrospect both of these deals may look better than they do now.

I'm not sure who got the worse deal, but as a Delta guy, reading the comparison I can see a clear bias.

For example, the no stock buyback point, the original CARES loan already prohibits stock buybacks, why advertise that as a win?

There are several other examples where it's clear its pretty one sided in comparison.

And nevermind the fact the no furlough requirement at Delta is a 6 months longer as United has taken part in the CARES loan, isn't this what these LOAs are all about.

Again, I'm not sure who got the worse deal, but this is very clearly a union sell job.

I didn’t really read the comparison that closely, although I’m sure someone will come along with counterpoints. I’m getting so much extra time off that I don’t really care that much anymore.

To the twenty-somethings reading this - live below your means. You’ll be happy you did.

Uh... well... what can I say? It wasn't me that made that quote. That would be LeeFXDWG.

One thing Lee did comment on is that you may not be someone that can have a reasonable discussion on this subject. Seeing how you didn't even notice it wasn't LeeFXDWG making the post (but, rather me), I'd say he might be right. You seem to be itching for a verbal throw down.

Am I missing something?

BTW... what does "heavy water" mean?

You’re correct that I attached his words to your post. I’m terribly sorry about the mixup.

Don’t conflate the misquote with the discussion at hand.

Garry is saying that you are carrying TI’s water....and it’s heavy. Anything less than full militance is viewed as being an apologist by this particular crowd......even though many would suggest that years ago they were all “scabs in training” who LUCKED out of being on a list. But what do I know?
Not much......that’s for sure.

SCABs in training who had agreed to go to work come strike time. ALPA intervention saved them.
I guess it’s better to be lucky than honorable.

Not Garry. This place just loves to hoist up a boogeyman the minute anyone strays from the reservation and suggests that we could have done better.
