I would imagine the day they enter the seniority list. In other words, Day 1 of BI.

The MEC P2P update sent out on March 19 said they were going to hold the funds and, in accordance with the MEC policy manual, decide at the April MEC whether or not the fund gets terminated. At which time the fund will be audited to determine who gets how much... Could be a while.

This is the right move. Bringing new hires on property while we’re operating under a reduced credit LOA would be very divisive. Looks like UAL has decided to prepare aggressively for the future. Really hoping that global vaccination & economic recovery bear this out to be a win.

Depending on the current socioeconomic situation a new hire can be for the probation all year or they can get stuck at the bottom of the list on reserve for a decade or more. Always remember kids, reserve is a choice!

I reckon Mid 2023 is a good time for us to get a reasonable update on this. I'll put that in my calendar to follow up on.

I was thinking that the industry was heading for another lost decade during the pandemic but the government did the right thing and bailed out the airlines. It’s amazing to see that things are looking up after a major shutdown just a year ago.

If starting to hire, does that mean I'll get my Furlough Fund money back soon??

Wasn't there something in an MEC update a while back that it would be on the agenda on the next MEC meeting which, I think, was in April?

Wow, Another panicked person that needs their furlough fund money back so bad. Might want to get an answer from a financial advisor on how to get by, without the furlough fund for a few months.
