How many premium pay opportunities do junior 73 or 320 folks see?

If I say never the next post will be someone that got one yesterday. I’ll say it’s very rare these days. But certainly you have to live in base and be ready for the missed commute or morning flt that they can’t use a reserve for yet. Check back this summer.

Its pretty rare, but it does happen if you’re eager or lucky enough.

I saw my first one today in 4 months of being back flying since COVID displacement. 737 FO.

Just shy of 3 years here, and got lucky one day and snagged a 75% PP trip (pre-covid). As fate would have it, I got stuck in a traffic jam 30 minutes outside or DCA, 2 hours later I missed my check-in and lost the opportunity.

I started seeing them at about 40% seniority. At 25% I’d get mostly any premium trip I was legal for. In the summer, I found that legality was nearly as important as seniority and bidding strategy became important to set myself up for PPU success.

But that was all pre-Covid. I’m currently hanging out around 50% DCA 737 FO and just happy if I can pick up straight open time.

I know a A320 FO in ORD that has bid reserve since the pandemic started. He does not actively try to dodge trips or assignments (except Field Standby).... He has flown 1 trip, (a two-day), with 2 legs since the beginning of the pandemic. His total block is 8 hours in the last 13 months. Crew Companion used to have 4 ish pages in ORD for open time and trades. There were like 4 total TRADES showing this month. It probably depends on your base what you can get for flying. They have plenty of extra reserves in that category anyway.
