All of the above.
ALPA National signed it. Their professional negotiators did the work. Someone has to wear the pants. But, true statement, Jay Panarello was in charge of MEC at that time.
ALPA's public position was one level of safety. However, they negotiated away the safety rest seat for pilots to get crew rest in. Clearly, safety was for sale.

the benefits I was talking about are yes seniority is huge, but also back side of the clock flying. 737 has some too but not ALL the time. Also the trips aren’t efficient in the bases I was. EWR pretty much 15 hour 3 day to Europe. DEN pretty much 15 hour trips to Hawaii. The destinations are great, but I’d rather get more hours in when I work and have more time at home. 737 has more variety. Also if you are a reserve guy, global reserve suck much more than domestic.

If you're a wide body pilot today, or tomorrow, that should be something you keep in mind. The NC rarely has widebody pilots on it.

I think that's accurate. On that note. All contracts seem to be written for the narrowbody fleets. Its the easiest way to get 50% plus 1. Why spend negotiating capital on votes that really don't hurt the goal? If your goal is to get a TA passed, and make sure the TA meets management goals of saving X, then that's what you do. Screw the rest of the pilots..You don't need their vote anyway.

The -700 brings the good vibe like the -200 ADV with the -17 engines did back in the day.

100% true. I was on both the 737 and 756 during POS-02.
I slept in coach on the way back from London in a 767 and had FC during a 737 Caribbean turn.
While a pilot was sleeping in coach, a passenger once put some beer cans on the tray table and took a picture.
CAL sucked. I’m so glad we merged.

A lot of really good responses have come from this discussion, and I don’t disagree big picture, so I probably should just let it go, but since this is APC:
If a pilot comes from Spirit or another similar ULCC are they allowed to broadcast “I hope I get an Airbus” in your world?
