New Hire Questions
Sorry for new thread but wanted a comprehensive spot for questions without a million thread
How often is there a bid for base transfers, is there a seat lock as a new hire?
Is there an anticipated delay between indoc and sim in the current environment?
Who is the health care insurance provider?
Are hotels in training paid for? (Odd one I know but you’d be surprised)
When do monthly schedules come out?
Thanks! I know all of this will be covered in class but just trying to plan ahead especially with changing health care providers

No requirement for vacancy bids to be done but they happen every 6 months to monthly depending on how busy things are happening. We need vacancy bids every 90-120 days when we are hiring to have positions for the newhires. You can base trade anytime with other pilots moving around system. Newhires do have a bidding freeze but they can always bid up to bigger equipment. lateral bidding from bus to 737 is frozen.
There shouldn't be any delays in training. You might get a handful of days but they are pretty efficient at getting butts in seats.
Aetna or blue cross depending on state and coverage on day 1 of class.
Single occupancy hotel room for entire duration of training, dry cleaning, first uniform is paid for. M and H shirts suck go order a cutabove. Everything else is measured. Blazer buttons come off if you look at them funny. Re-sew immediately.
Monthly schedules are bid 5-12 of every month and are posted by the evening of 17th month prior. Specific categories are earlier or later depending on fairy magic. Ewr 756 is the red headed stepchild and they get their schedules at 11:59pm on the 17th.
You will have newhire mentors to help and plenty of time to absorb everything.

Ha well I’d like to get back to Chicago someday, so I think it might be 737 🤣. How long is the freeze between 737 and 320 as a new hire? How long would class be for that switch?

All depends on how much you said you want the job in the interview. You gotta elaborate a little more regarding what type of event that could come up.
