Basic Math isn't adding up here at United. Someone please enlighten me.
This story reads:
https://www.marketwatch.com/story/un...ve-01631146134
"The airline’s 67,000 U.S.-based employees face a Sept. 27 deadline for getting vaccinated. United UAL said Wednesday"
Yet, today's story shows the following stats:
https://www.reuters.com/business/aer...ne-2021-09-16/
"Chicago-based United said nearly 20,000 employees had uploaded records since the company announced its mandatory vaccination policy."
So the headline of 90% being vaccinated is a bunch of BS. It looks like United will be forced to FIRE 47,000 current employees on Sept 27th.
Welcome to America!

the ultimatum was announced on Aug 6th, 20,000 employees uploaded their records who had not previously, bringing the total to 90% as of about a week ago who have uploaded their records both before and after the ultimatum.

Myocarditis study in pfizer and moderna shows incidence is 1 in 1,000. Median age 33.
https://www.medrxiv.org/content/10.1....13.21262182v1
https://www.medrxiv.org/content/10.1...182v1.full.pdf
There were 15,997 doses of Moderna vaccine, and 16,382 doses of Pfizer vaccine administered over the
study period, for a total of 32,379 doses. Note that these numbers represent a mixture of first and
second doses. Therefore, if our cohort captured all cases in the Ottawa area, then the incidence of
myocarditis would be 0.1% of all vaccine doses (32 cases/32,379 doses x 100), or 10 cases of myocarditis
for every 10,000 doses of vaccine.
"There was no difference in 5-year survival rate between the myocarditis and idiopathic dilated cardiomyopathy groups (56% vs. 54%, respectively). "
5 year survival rate of about 50%. Good luck!

"Then the researchers calculated the incidence of 25 different potential adverse events in each group. In a second round of analysis, they calculated the incidence of the same potential side effects in a group of 170,000 people who had tested positive for the coronavirus and in a similar group of uninfected controls. They found that although myocarditis remained rare, it was more common in the vaccinated group than the unvaccinated one. There were an extra 2.7 cases of myocarditis for every 100,000 people in the vaccinated group, compared with the unvaccinated one, the researchers found. But the risks were even higher among those who had contracted the virus. There were an extra 11 cases of the condition for every 100,000 people who had been infected with the coronavirus, compared with those who had not."
During the deliberations, panel members suggested older, vulnerable populations may benefit from boosters, but noted insufficient data among younger groups and concerns over potential increased risk for heart inflammation, particularly among males ages 16-17.

The panel earlier Friday afternoon voted to reject licensure of Pfizer's booster vaccine in people ages 16 and older, at a vote of 2-16.

Please don’t put words in my mouth. Yes, I recently said that I would have to get the shot, as I am not independently wealthy and cannot replace a $250,000/year income as a paramedic. I chose to wait until it became mandatory, as I would not voluntarily take the jab. I don’t recall ever saying to anyone that they shouldn’t get the vaccine, as that should be a personal decision. What I find absolutely abhorrent is that some individuals are “shaming” people for not wanting to get it. Vaccine mandates/passports are all a slippery slope. There is plenty of research out there that shows both vaccinated people and unvaccinated people can spread this virus. So if you’re vaccinated, what do you have to fear from the unvaccinated?? If you think I’m a “keyboard warrior” for wanting people to exercise their individual freedoms and choices, then so be it.

The 145 isn’t any better. Both fleets can’t be retired fast enough as far as I’m concerned. Let’s just hope Kirby isn’t blowing smoke about their days being numbered.
