I have never heard of this web archive site before. It’s freaking awesome. Looking at all the websites I used to read in the early 2000s. Thank you for posting this.

Memory is def faulty, but believe that was the direct ancestor of what became flightinfo. The AOL boards had way less Java. All that’s missing is a long discussion on how on earth one was supposed to fill out the scantron for United app.

DEN CA can be held on the last bid with 2 years on property.

Anecdotally a friend of mine chose Southwest over United a few years back because he was going to give up flying WB planes just to get based in DEN and being a Captain, because he was told it was 20 years to hold Captain at United in Denver and only 10 at Southwest. He’s an FO based in Denver for Southwest and he’d almost be a line holding Captain right now if he had taken the United job.

I asked him how soon he would upgrade to Captain and he said its not even close yet.

You just never know.

There are in fact quite a number of pilots on special tracking and have been restricted to what they can bid. Mainly, not a CA bid because of ability and other deficiencies. I think it's AA where if you are not able to upgrade, they have an up or out policy for reasons just such as this.

It was AA but I don't think they have that policy anymore.

A senior 737 fo in DEN can easily make as much a junior captain without working more. Lots of legs get bought by sim instructors and premium pay isn’t uncommon. If it’s about money and QOL, senior fo is a good place to be. If it’s about a stripe, a free hat, and telling your neighbors that you are a captain, then deal with reserve or the bottom end trips.
