At the beginning of November HR told us at the interview that they just had hired 1000+ pilots in the last six months. So the 1300 sound reasonable to me.

I was more inquiring about the “full steam ahead” for next years hiring! I’d like to know if they’ve said any numbers.

The 800 vacancies on the most recent bid is consistent with continued 50/week

TK is staffing for 2,000 new hires in 2022 and 2023 each year. Current vacancy bid has over 800 slots that aren’t filled, including over 70 Captain positions in 4 bases.

Recent training class visits by SK & other higher ups have confirmed that their plan is to continue this rate of hiring for years to come. Most of the aircraft deliveries we’re taking over the next 5 years represent (mainline) growth & we’ll need a pretty vastly expanded workforce to support that.

I’ve been in this industry long enough to know that business strategies adapt over time, aircraft orders change more often than not, & training bottlenecks can hobble staffing plans; but this is more than an idle TK rumor. UAL’s current aggressive long-term growth strategy is being communicated pretty clearly from the top.
