As of today's snapshot 17 Captain awards and 23 First Officer awards with an additional 4 spots going unfilled. Unfilled assignments can be given to new hires. Take that with the knowledge that unfilled spots on the coasts number in the hundreds, so being 4 short in CLE may not be something the company is too worried about.

Another option is we have 79 unfilled Captain positions between LAX, SFO, IAD and EWR. You could hold that with 500 hours on property and not on probation, then lateral to CLE as soon as you can hold it. Maybe even get a base trade to CLE.

Approx how much flight time can someone expect to get sitting NB reserve in LA on year 1?
Is is possible to a reserve to pick up?

Of course it’s possible to pick up flying, but I think most pilots that live local in domicile and are on reserve probably want to fly the least amount possible for reserve guarantee pay. If I was within short call range of a base I’d want to avoid flying as much as possible, get my 73 hours of pay and chill vs flying my butt off all
month in the hopes of breaking guarantee.

If you’re a commuter than yes it’s nice to be able to pick up flying so you can have an idea of what your work stretch is going to be vs worrying about the random short calls and field standby.

Picking up on reserve only counts towards guarantee , it doesn’t go on top

Based on the latest snapshot I’d say no more than 2 years. SFO you could get as a new hire.

But you could be an Airbus or 737 Captain in LAX as soon as you get 500 hours and off probation since those are going unfilled.

Wow, that’s crazy. What are the current 78 routes out of LAX?
