Probably, going to bid 737 or Airbus in LA. What are the trips like, a lot of red eyes? How often are folks used on reserve? Also, do you cover other airport in LA like you would in NY? Thanks.

Yes and yes. Pull up Jan bid packages in CCS and you can see mix of LAX/SNA/ONT along with times. Good news is red eyes are commutable.

Is the Bus worse than the 737 in terms of trips and red eyes in LA?

What if you are not junior, sounds like people move pretty quick NB LA. I’d also be living 30 mins from LAX. Do most trip originate there?

Yes, most trips on the 737 originate in LAX with SNA and ONT following in that order. Seniority moves fairly quickly in LAX with line holding status within the first year most likely (probably 6 months). Once a line holder you can do all sorts of trading and fly a Hawaii 3 day or North/South domestic trips along with regular 4 day trips that do not necessarily have red eye legs. West coast trips on 737,757/767,777, and 787 (and yes, even the airbus) will always have red eye trips due to the nature of the flying pattern. I liked being able to commute West and have basically all day at home with an evening flight to LAX or SFO to report for a 4 day trip that had a report time of 11 PM. Once you wake up on the East Coast or Florida/Mexico/Caribbean/Central America/Texas etc you are back on normal hours for the rest of the trip.

Currently 1-2 months of reserve. Crazy times.

If you want LA 737 is only choice as new hire. Rapid advancement and much larger base and options compared to small base Airbus. Airbus does have much more Ontario right now though if that is your jam.

I only did 1 month of reserve and have line for January. The last snapshot puts me at 50% assuming all the vacancies get filled at some point.
