Hey guys I'm new to the thread. I applied early January, just curious on how long some of you have waited to be invited to interview? I don't have any turbine PIC but still a decent resume, mix of 121 and 135 time, 4,500 hours. Not sure how far down that puts me on their list. Thanks.

Then you wait to hear from them based on where your score is relative to other applicants. When they send out interview invites they do so to the number they feel they need to interview and they chose those that have the highest score according to the Gonkulator! As they send out more invites the score needed to get an invite moves lower.
When you update your app with additional qualifications or flight hours the Gonkulator calculates your new score.
Once your score is higher than the score needed to get an invite, (either through the required score going down due to additional invites or your score going up due to updates) you will get an invite!
Time since you applied has literally zero to do with it.
ps. While the process the gonkulator goes through to calculate a score is generally understood, (more ratings, more PIC time, more turbine, more, more, more is better) the specifics of exactly what counts for how much is a closely gaurded secret

They put your application into the Gonkulator!! That spits out a score very quickly.

Sounds like a Dr. Seuss innovation, I like it. Alright well I'm stuck now at a 135 job with little hours to update so I hope us bottom feeders get thrown a bone. Hopefully 4,500 total time with 2,700 121 time Gonkulates eventually. Thanks for the insight, guy!

Out of curiosity, why not take a 121 direct Captain job w/the big siglnging bonus? Would the PIC raised your score (as gonkulated by the UAL gonkulator)?

I kept telling myself it was only a matter of time. But once I hit 500 hours turbine PIC and the supposed +3,000 hour total time benchmark I started to question if some of the “stuff” I had been hearing out on the line was actually true. So I applied to Delta, American, and Southwest thinking maybe one or two would call in a month or two.
All three sent me interview invites within a week after submission. Southwest less than 48 hours and they had interview dates available within 5 days of the invite. I did eventually receive official job offers from all three.
Please don’t be me and sell yourself short. I think you should apply to three or four carriers you could see yourself flying at until retirement. Have your application professionally reviewed, submit, and let fate determine the rest.
United is a phenomenal airline, but once you receive invites from a few others and start doing your own research you’ll realize we are blessed with more than a few phenomenal legacy and major airliners in the US. I decided on AA for personal reasons and seniority progression.
Oh hey by the way, all three of those interviews I met more than a few corporate men and women with zero Turbine PIC. They are definitely hiring 135 pilots.
Good luck brother!

Hey I have a story for you. I was very recently a CA at SkyWest Airlines living in Denver. I only had my application submitted with United, very clean record all around, internal LOR’s and references with United pilots, multiple type ratings.

Thanks man I appreciate the positivity, I need it right now. I had a Delta CJO fall through in January from the psychologist. A few weeks ago had a no thanks from SWA. So not sure what I'm doing wrong, I think I'm a pretty normal dude to fly with like 99% of pilots.
