If you don’t work at a UAX carrier, what job fairs have you attended? If you do work for a UAX carrier, that’s probably part of the problem.

Sorry to hear that. I can almost guarantee that if you go to Frontier, Spirit, Southwest, or anywhere that doesn't fly UAX you will get an interview once you update your current employer on your app. They are hiring from the competition.

This is a fact. Everyone I know that left for ULCC and LCC got a call. Meet and greets got all my friends a call if they were at a carrier that flew UAX but other than that it was crickets until they left that carrier. So I would second this advice.

Same here my friend, don't feel bad. Had a meet the chiefs and a LCA on the 78 went with me. The 78 LCA wrote me a letter and a LCA in the 73 wrote me a letter also. Still nothing.

‘You are literally in the worst seat on the train if you are a RJ CA unless it’s a WO…. If you aren’t getting calls after app reviews and MYCs, consider making a move to a ULCC if you aren’t getting bites…

100%

This has been sort of known though. Multiple threads have been published in the last year that United hires from the competition only and being the “most qualified pilot in the pool” is not how you get hired.

You’re just going to have to suck it up and go through a ULCC initial training program on pathetically low training pay. I sucked it up and soon after got hired at Delta. It is what it is.

I think another issue is this individual is working at a United Express operator, flying out of a United hub and not applying to AA or DL because UAL is #1
for them.

FWIW- I Went to a hiring event earlier this year, only applied to UA. Got a bite a month later, got hired by UA quite recently. Currently at a UAX carrier, RJ CA, at a UA exclusive hub. And literally nothing special putting me above anyone else. No degree, some GA failures, no LCA, nothing above and beyond. Go to OBAP, go to LPA, go to RTAG. I think either I got extremely extremely lucky, or maybe the lcc pool is slightly drying up. Probably a combo of both. I do know of 7-8 others in my base getting CJO’s at ua in the last few months. Maybe the metering isn’t as significant anymore, who knows. But you have a chance… just go to every event til they call and include the memberships on your resume.

Great post and good information for the UAX CA’s. I went to a hiring event this early spring and they will absolutely spend time to personally review your application after the event. They want to hire you. You’re just not getting through the system they utilize. They sent me a “fix it” email a few weeks after. It needed to be fixed in another 2 weeks for my Application to be considered? Just like your scenario about one month. The reason the bite probably never happened was because during that month stretch I interviewed and received CJO’s from AAL, DAL, and SWA. When you have several offers you start having real conversations with your significant other, parents, pilot friends. It turns out American was the best choice for me long term. Removed my UAL app from consideration and that was that.

My advice to the UAX CA’s. Go to the next career fair and sign up for meet and greets with multiple airlines. I’d say have at least three one on one’s scheduled.

Also, having multiple offers is beneficial. From my experience you receive a class date at your top choice quicker when they know you have another offer and class date scheduled.
