ita takes more then pay to make a good contract right? Or are you a individual that opens Section 3 and votes accordingly?
The comment I replied to said we had a better contract than nearly everyone else, including the airlines I listed, which is wrong. I also said all the airlines I listed have better pay AND QOL work rules. And yes we have new hires coming from those airlines but it is 1-2 a class, not 30+ like regional pilots. I'm not sure why you're trying to defend our decade old contract that is now severely lacking industry wide.

You get too spun up

there’s nothing to defend we are filling all our seats every week from airlines all over the industry. Clearly we have something new pilots want. What do you suppose that is?

oh and by the way, this decade old contract that is “severely lacking” was up for renewal in 2015 unfortunately our pilot group took the money and ran. So if you were in the group that voted yes for that pay raise extension, please tell me why you let this “severely lacking” contract continue for another 4 years? I was a NO vote on that by the way.

400 flights to where? Can’t grow anywhere. I keep hearing about DEN to HI on SWA but how do you think you’ll do that without augmenting? We block 7:59 flight planned at .83. Even if it was possible, a 737 can’t compete in CASM to a 753/777/787 on a stage length like that.

Needing to push out AA makes no sense as Ua was running 700/day out of the B gates precovid.
DEN-HI might be a pipe dream. I don’t see non-stops happening. Prob 1 leg to the west coast and hop over from there…but like you said…block would limit what they can do.

We’re still trying to rebuild frequency from when the MAX was parked and Covid. So you run more planes to the same city pairs and eventually add new routes (more Mexico, Canada, Alaska, etc). Plan for this summer is a bit over 300 flights a day in DEN, most of any other base in the system. Goal is over 400/day but that’s dependent on when the -7 finally shows and hiring goals for flight and ground ops.

Growth at the big leagues will be dependent on plane deliveries and ability to hire to staff those planes. Slow rolling contracts won’t get it done….

I can only speak from being at NK but in terms of QOL the UA contract is awful. At NK there is a simple but old system.. It works either way. If the days are green I drop my trip. If there is another trip out there ex i have a 3 day and there is a different 3 day. I can switch that. If there is a 2 day out there with a day thats green I cant switch into that. Its not seniority based its just about whats available at the time.

Another example is this. I wanted the beginning of march off and the end of it off. I bid min credit so got around 73 hrs and the first week is off in march and the last week of march is off with everything else crammed in the middle.

The allure of UA at the moment is not for widebodys and its not for the pay. I can say for sure this group enjoys living life and not just work work work. The thing about UA or Delta etc is stability in bases and frankly who knows whats gonna happen with the b6/nk merger and that JCBA to come.

I myself woud love to see people speaking about this more on the UA forums but unfortunately it doesnt seem to be the case.

Every airline from the regionals up are filling classes. My main point is, we are currently one of the lowest paid majors, with regional level work rules.

You can do everything you just wrote at United. I stack my trips all the time to get chunks of time off. You also can drop days that are green. You can even trade into and out of negative(red) days using the bad day worse day trade. Aside from that, we are long over due for a complete rewrite of the contract.

Fair enough but most people on here as I read say that due to the changing reserve coverage, days are always red and dropping is nearly impossible. Possible yes but basically a NO.

Care to tell how senior you are or airplane? I guess that would probably really make a big difference in terms of stacking work blocks.

I appreciate your input though. the forums are infinetly sarcastic but im not going for that here just trying to get as much info as possible. Of course as well there is a new contract coming down the line sometime which "might" address qol.

Let’s introduce some facts, if only for a moment. In 2022, UAL had 18,206,543 available seats in ORD. AA had 13,418,161. Number three is DAL with 1,929,739. If you think that means AA is barely a factor in ORD, then UAL is too.

this didn’t age well did El Peso? AA appears to be even less of a factor in ORD now. This will continue, by the end of the decade AA will be a shell in ORD.
