Reminds me of why I left Pro Pilot World. A few trolls who like to throw bombs and flood threads with inane comments because they have no life chase off others who could contribute.


But Hey, just like PPW, go ahead and let the trolls flourish. If the forum owners value the trolls more than the regular people who could really contribute to the forum and help people out with good information, no skin off me. Ain't my forum.

 

There’s a difference between trolling and satire. Satire is made to help us understand our own limitations and biases and/or take intuitions we have to their logical conclusion, thus exposing their lack of validity, or unintended consequences/bed-fellows. Trolling is just plain chaos inducement. I think if you don’t take yourself too seriously, you would see that FADEC is the former… and a great litmus test as it turns out

I believe he/she poked fun at all sides and preciously held beliefs. Between their inconsistent viewpoints and literary flourish, I really think it’s hard to argue that a critical thinker would’ve confused FADECs posts for anything other than they were.

 

Steve, it sounds like APC isn’t for you then buddy. We need less of the Steve’s and more Fadec’s. If you come to APC for “good information” you’re an idiot. Bye 👋

Never mind FADEC’s style.

The troll constantly engages/agitates/gas lights the convo.

Wheras FADEC was the “sit in the corner and observe” type. Watching the convo play out, paying attention to the stupidity being flung about. Then, when the time was right, FADEC enters with the satire in a “mike drop/one and done/frag out” style, dropping the bomb, THEN disappears, back to the corner/shadow.

Causing the weak of mind to take the bait, the unaware to scratch their heads, and those of us that get it to just chuckle/giggle at the genius….

Yup, just wanted to interrupt the FADEC strokefest with a moment of sanity. 55 posts over 2 1/2 years of membership doesn't exactly make me an active participant despite what I could have contributed, neh?

Safe flying, everyone. Despite what LAXtoDEN said, for those who come here looking for good information there are some good posters here (waves at Motch, LJDRVR, others my old brain can't remember.). Just remember that nothing you post is truly anonymous, and don't post anything you would not read back to you by the Chief Pilot.


I wish you none of the heartache and twice the success I've had in my career and in my life, and always remember what Ross told a young Ernie Gann: Anyone can do it when things are going right. In this business, we play for keeps.

While I appreciate being thrown in with some of the other posters with regards to "good info", I will say that I take everything from here with a grain of salt as (unlike the FB Forums and some of the other pages), allowing anonymity here leads to both False information AND mis-information. Problem becomes- how to differentiate between the two.

I would read FADEC's post and either Laugh, Shake my head, get ****ed or just blow it off.
But
I would also not ban him for said reasons.

I have always wished the mods would require some sort of validation for those posting. Phone check, company employee number, something- But it is what it is.
In the end, I totally agree with the line "Don't post anything you would not read back to your Chief Pilot". I HAVE been called on the carpet and had no problem defending my statements. And I've also made it clear that I have no problem going to my elected officials, the media and the court system, if I feel it is warranted. That's not a threat, just a statement.

FADEC brings comic relief to this forum and if someone is truly offended by him, they can block his posts.
Guess it goes back to the old Howard Stern debate here in NYC-
Should he be banned from the Radio, or can you change the channel?
