Is this opinion based on an extensive background in process improvement and safety management? Or simply the musings of a pilot who thinks no one can possibly understand what we do?

TBH I bet that 95% of the pilots don't really understand our 'day to day' operations beyond our bubble.

I’d be willing to bet the majority of non-military pilots have ever been in charge of operations beyond their single flights.

You are way off on that. The Harvard school way of thinking will pull every penny out of the product and then the hedge funds come in and maximize short term profit and stock price against long term gains. Bethune came in with "You can make a pizza so cheaply that no one will eat it" and he broke the cycle just long enough for it to happen again. Management isn't here for you or your family or core 4 or whatever nonsense military / non military knows about running anything. They will line their pockets while they can and move on. Just like we should be doing.

Sorry, but you are making my point.

Great thought. You’re at the wrong airline.

Not sure where you get your data, but it’s the forum, so we all get a say, right? As far as only being in charge of “their single flights”…It’s billions in potential liability each and every takeoff entrusted to the Captain. This ain’t some middle manager pushing paper and overseeing a few desk jockeys. Haven’t seen your handle on here much. You new to the airline biz? Or just having a little fun?

The liability of a single flight and responsibility of the captain for that single flight has absolutely nothing to do with running an operation. You did nothing to further an argument that people have experience beyond their single flight.

not how this works. When you make the claim, it’s up to you to back it up. Take your time. We’ll wait.
