obviously DL has hired some young pilots over the years, but the average age of a new hire has been 35 or over every year of that hiring spree

I get your point but the retirement wave is unprecedented
that’s what they said when COVID hit and we went from 450 departures a day out of EWR to 12. We could’ve staffed the airline with 1000 pilots in May 2020.
