The percentage on the vacancy bid assumes all 60 vacancies (59 besides you) will be
filled and everyone filling the other 59 will be junior to you. That percentage is eff'd info. Although it may be closer to the truth than in the past with new hire upgrades, you really have no idea where your true percentage will end up. Better data for me is looking at the BES g-line.

The last sfo 737 CA category summary shows 39% as a 62xx seniority number. The Vacancy bidding screen is not the true reality of the situation in a base and seat. The vacancy bidding screen is NOT a good idea of your in base seniority given the fact that the company has hard time filling upgrades in sfo.

But, I doubt you'll be a lineholding captain in 5 years. The only time that happens 5 years into a (generally) 25-30 year career is massive massive growth.

9 years with the company would put you around 65%. Check CCS staffing reports. And there is a significant difference between 40 something and 65. I think you’re misunderstanding something

Meant to add that while the summary does show true percentage in real time, I still prefer the PBS doc as it shows useful info to me - employee #s for junior line holders. For me at least that's really what I care about when I consider upgrading - how long will I be on reserve. True % in base doesn't mean much to me unless I know where the junior line holders are.

Unless I’m mistaken the Category Summary is a little unreliable now too. At least for NBCA. All the NHs that have been awarded upgrades in the last few months all show up there, but they won’t actually be online in that seat for a year plus.
It’s still a much better representation than the vacancy screen.

I'm 45% in BES. With just that info alone, what does it mean? That's what the summary gives you. You said you'd never bid off the vacancy page. I said the same thing. Nor would I bid knowing a percentage without knowing what that percentage is going to get me. I'm top 10% SFO 756 - awesome! - until I look at the bid package (and obviously SFO). That's all I was saying.
I guess I'm missing the reason for your sarcasm. I was trying to add value to this discussion and help the guy asking the question; not trying to step on your toes. Been a member here long enough that I guess I shouldn't be surprised.
