It doesn’t need to be. It is part of the replacement plan. The 757 is being replaced by a mix of Max’s and A321’s.

No where has it been announced that United plans to take less Max -10’s. My take is United will use these early deliveries of A321’s to replace the domestic 757 flying earlier than currently planned.

or be a bridge to their own newly acquired 321 delivery slots

they can’t just replace the domestic 757 flying. The 757s are needed for summer seasonal international flying. I never fly 757-200s domestically from Mid April until mid September except for LAX/SFO-EWR and DEN Hawaii. In the winter the only option is to park the fleet for 5 months or fly them domestically.

United cannot replace the 757-200 until there is an international capable aircraft on property (XLR)

Bumped thread.

The 321 chatter has really died off with everything else going on.

Any news on extra 321’s that may of not hit the mainstream?

36 leased on the way outside the regular orders
80 737-10 swapped to 737-8/9 max

106 NBs plus 7 787-9s for 2024

thats less than 168 that it was the plan
therefore less hiring for the year

Ha, well define “confirmed”. Until you are sitting in the seat at FL350 collecting the pay rate, nothing is confirmed.
