Default Vacancy 23-01V

CA - 394 (78 WB CA)
FO - 889 (121 WB FO)

Every category except SFO 787 CA. I bet there are 200 unfilled NB Captain vacancies on this bid. Going to be a lot of movement and training caused.

And here the company goes again with a ton of unfilled CAs. What is it they say about doing the same thing over and expecting different results?

45 Guppy CAs in each EWR and SFO plus 10 Bus CAs in each……

Sub-1 year 73/Bus Captains. Great time to be a FNG.
There will be no sub 1 year captains.

Correct. The exemption is for guys who don’t yet meet the requirement of 1,000 hours on property. New hires still have to tough it out for a year before upgrading.

Boy, it sounds like the company desperately needs to fix their instructor/LCA shortage ASAP. Sounds like we have historic amounts of leverage.

Ok, my bad, post deleted.

Any other major (non-bottom feeder) airline upgrading this quickly?

No idea, but with 8,000 more new hires coming in the next 3-4 years only the majors (United, Delta, American, Southwest) will have pilots. Most hires at the small carriers and regionals are only replacing pilots leaving for the 4 majors. The LCCs are going to be drained of pilots and that will limit their growth. Plus good luck buying planes for the next 5 years.

By the end of 2025 a pilot hired at United in 2021 will have 10,000 pilots junior to them.

Recently Delta has, albeit I’m sure not super often, had people upgrade before they finished IOE as new hires.

Delta has had new hires awarded CA before finishing OE. They still have to meet the requirements before actually converting.

Yeah, but we’ll squander it with a short term contract that solves the training issues to put some money in our pockets. I can hear it now, “sure we gave up the biggest piece of leverage for what basically amounts to another LOA, but they’ll have to deal with us in 2 years.” Getting really tired of watching the same movie every contract cycle.
