Social media policy? How about FOM 1.90.4 Press & Publicity?
You and I may not talk to the media without permission. Day one of every airline BI ever.
Also from working togerther guidlines:
"You need permission from our Media Relations team to discuss United, matters related to United or our industry with the media."

It appears that she knowingly violated company policy. Intentional noncompliance. United has an army of lawyers that we pay if they are working or not, she will have to pay for her lawyers. She stands no chance of winning a court case. The only issue the company would have is potential managing the publicity. That’s probably something they could stifle with a Liable suit.

Comparing a narcissitic but otherwise well-intentioned influencer to people like SW is totally disingenuous. She is lightyears apart in both the content she posts and the damage it does to our profession. The two have no business being discussed in the same sentence, much less being directly compared. I'm no fan of influencers, but I haven't met or seen one whom I think is actively undermining the public's trust in our industry. We may not like them because the stuff they post isn't catered to us, but you can't ignore how the public seems to enjoy and appreciate what they do. Simply put, if there wasn't a market for it, they wouldn't be doing it. Just because we aren't that market doesn't inherently mean what they're doing is wrong, especially in today's society where people use social media the way they do.
The minute I feel like they're compromising our profession, I'll gladly display the same energy. They aren't. SW is. Simple as that.

I don’t believe comparing SW seeking attention and approval is much different from the others.

There have been a few pilot influencers who have taken advantage of the current aviation events to gain “clout” by debriefing the accident(s) then casually leading into why “we” need age 67…

whole industry. The public stop flying and guess what? No profit sharing for DAL and UAL…making their paychecks smaller too.

Im too lazy to look it up, but I thought there was something about identifying as a United pilot or employee that made that clause take effect. In other words, if in street clothes and doesn’t claim to work for United, the policy didn’t apply. Perhaps I’m misremembering.
