United's most recent fleet plan shows no retirements of 757s in 2025.

The below link is United's 2025 fleet plan, listed on United's Investor Relations website. Current as of April 15, 2025.

That hiring table from November has already proved to be wrong.

I just checked it and it did not show an April 1st 2025 class (which we had) and only showed 3 total for April and we already have had 4 new hire classes, including 53 pilots in yesterday's class.

Also it showed 151 new hires in April on the chart, but we already have 180 new hires this month.

The most recent vacancy bid had 519 unfilled FO positions. That hiring matrix showed us only hiring 194 pilots between May and December 1st, which means we are going to be well behind filling those training slots. and its not including future vacancy bid we will certainly need to replace retiring pilots and the new plane deliveries.

Ok, but isn’t that what I said?

Remember though just because there’s an unfilled vacancy doesn’t main the company has to use it. Like that we are above the numbers predicted !

Yes. That's why I posted it. To back up what you said about no planned 757 retirements.

Narrowbodies Destined For The United Fleet In 2025

Boeing and Airbus are set to deliver a number of their narrowbody aircraft to United in 2025, replacing the airline's aging Boeing 737-700 and Airbus A320 fleet. According to the airline's K-10 filing, in 2025, 84 new Boeing 737s will roll off the factory floor and into operation for the US carrier, and 23 new Airbus aircraft will be delivered from across the Atlantic.

From Boeing, 16 new Boeing 737 MAX 8 and 68 MAX 9 are expected to roll off the factory floor and into operation, and 23 Airbus A321neo are expected to be welcomed from Europe. The A321neo is hotly anticipated to be introduced on slimmer long-haul routes that cannot maintain the widebodies currently required to fly long distances. The A321neo could open up new routes, such as Washington to Marrakesh or Denver to Barcelona, which could not be operated before with a narrowbody aircraft. Currently, no Boeing 737 MAX 10 is expected for United in 2025. However, the airline hopes to welcome its first three variants in 2026.

Significantly more than most expected. Interesting that the 737-700 was noted. Take all this FTIW but at least one more perspective.

Now if only Boeing can get the Max 7 into service. The performance of a -700 with Max engines, avionics, and most importantly 2 cupholders.

Hoping they can install coffee makers that actually work, though. Just did a transcon on a Max 9 with all 4 deferred. Considering it was an early morning departure, our pax were less than pleased.

I’ll add that the latest from pilot hiring I heard was around 6500-8500 TT with 2000 PIC puts you in the sweet spot if you are from the civilian applicant pool.
That’s not going be norm for much longer. Not many with several years as captain, and the better part of a decade worth of seniority at other majors, are willing to bail on their airlines to come fly for United. (Unless they are being metered by Skywest) Spirit shrinking is the only reason the experience level is so high at the moment.

That might be true. I'll tell you what they told me at NGPA 2 months ago: not much hiring this year except for Aviate and military due to Boeing delays, come back when I have 1000 PIC. Didn't even look at my resume. Luckily the next day I was hired by AA but United would still be my first choice.

Keep applying. Hiring somebody away from AA or DL is a very different situation.
