Default Summer Hiring

Any word on where we are hiring-wise for 2025? What is the outlook for summer / fall? What has been competitive lately? Obviously have heard UA is shrinking flying this summer…

1500 on the low end of the possible numbers hired for 2025. Parking old 320s/757 and replacing with 321 NEOs/XLRs for the replacement.

Competitive experience for interview invites are going “up” but really going back to industry norms.

Keep updating apps and get check marks to move you to a smaller pile of apps (if you have a 2 yr degree - get a 4 year degree……. If you are a Cpt try to get a Check Airmen letter…….Volunteer for your community……. the usual stuff)

There are no retirement of 757’s this year, not sure where you came up with that.

Total for the year 965. 674 of those on the property already, about 30/month till the end of the year, 88 in December, according to the 2025 new hire plan revised last November. That is the latest I have seen, might have changed since.

Not one 757 will be parked and we have a significant net fleet growth this year. At least give accurate fleet information. Page 21 of the last 8k has the fleet data.

Seems pretty accurate to me, albeit the timeline on the 757 is off.

I’ll add that the latest from pilot hiring I heard was around 6500-8500 TT with 2000 PIC puts you in the sweet spot if you are from the civilian applicant pool.

That November "revised hiring forecaast" was if the Boeing strike continued for the year and we got no 737 MAX planes. The person who presented the chart even said it the Boeing strike ended quickly that United would hire about 1,700 pilots in 2025.

United finished 2024 with 992 planes in the fleet and the most recent estimate, even after the announcement of planes being parked, there will be 1,054 planes in the fleet at the end of 2025.
