System seniority > your seat in a merger is what I'm hearing, right?

The way I understand the stovepiping is that is only used to determine the ISL. Your actual seat and changes to it after integration are affected by fences, or seat locks, and vacancy/reduction bids.

Saw a LCP wearing a long sleeve shirt with a 1" Tulip embroidered on the cuffs. Double douchebag alert.

Also heard SFO Ground tell a JetBlue plane to "Follow the United 73 with the Continental tail." I had to wonder if he had family that was lCal.

The "career expectations" line was always a whiny excuse to me. Kinda like Mom saying that I could be an astronaut someday, but failing one too many checkrides and ending up in tankers, then showing up the first day of astronaut class induction and saying "But Mom promised!!!!!" You're not owed anything in life.

Airline flying is not a career, it's a lottery.

Maybe it was the Guppy with the nostalgic Continental livery.

Excellent point!!!! (I didn't see it, but it could have been around the corner.)

FWIW, I think they made great choices with the Heritage Liveries. When I think of lUal I think of the red/blue tail slash, when I think of lCal I think of "the Proud Bird with the Golden Tail", but that also invokes the Lorenzo Era, so I understand why they didn't use it.

Actually, it's more the case that your useless, self-congratulatory comments undermine the thread way worse than a guy who made a minor spelling error.

Don't bother, man. He’s the same guy that said asking for contract improvements is entitlements lol

Seat position at the time of a merger is irrelevant. Seniority lists are stove piped placing each pilot in the highest paying seat position they can hold. The stove piped list is what the merged list will be produced from. This prevents leap frogging which is a basic tenant of merging lists.

I currently hold a seat that I otherwise wouldn’t be able to hold. Many of us are in this position. So the stovepipe would take me out of my current seat because I wouldn’t be able to hold it? Weird.

….You're not “taken” out of anything. But yes, for integration purposes you’d be considered an FO (for example.) For simple math, if you had 10k pilots with 5k CA and 5K FO and you were 2900 seniority, but left seat because of bypass- you’d be considered an FO and integrated as such.

It’s just to build the integrated seniority list. It does not take you out of your current seat. In fact most integrated lists have a no flush provision meaning you can’t be bumped outside of normal contractual processes.
