Anyone know how many weeks you’re realistically in Denver for 320 upgrade? Non short course. Cheers

About a month. You’ll do the full 320 Qual Course.

no, the stress and extra time away is not worth the extra money. In fact, if you stay local and pick up a premium here and there, you probably won’t be far off Captain commuter pay (which is likely to be min guarantee).

take it from me, who upgraded early and hasn’t moved an inch on the seniority ladder (on the CA side). Enjoy the FO seniority movement and being local.

You can subscribe to alerts through crew companion and make a special alert for premiums at each base. Then you will get an idea of how often each base has premium offerings. But yes EWR is probably the highest for premium offerings. Typically bases affected by weather events would be next like IAH, DEN, ORD. From experience I know SFO has much more than LAX on the CA side.

That’s actually a good idea, thanks!

How is general seniority progression and premium at LAX? Are a lot of LAX guys commuters, so premium available for locals usually?

How’s the commute?

Is DEN or EWR an easier commute?

How easy is it to drop trips?

How low can I drop it (seems like open time in SFO is scarce - perhaps many people pick up trips)?

Is it realistic I could pick up out of base in IAH?
The IAH SFO commute is tough because of all the IAH residents doing SFO WB flying. I did it for 5 months and I'm so happy I don't have to do it anymore. The other thing you should know is that approximately 60-65 pct of SFO73 trips begin with a redeye -- so they're commutable on the front end but only rarely are commutable on the back end.

Open time right now is scarce because it's February/ March. There's definitely more open time in the summer. As for picking up out of base, I've tried to do that in IAH (I'm SFO based) but all the good flying seems to be gone long before the OOB pickup window opens...
