Vacancy 26-07 has arrived!

The pre UPA, midcontinent base growth to incentive upgrades is largely done, so it’s trending back to the traditional pattern of pushing new hires to SFO and EWR. I imagine you’ll see a very fast progression initially until you get past to the people who want to be based elsewhere, then it will slow until the more senior local folks to get tired of redeyes or upgrade. If hiring continues as planned it won’t take long. The 25% mark is a ~15,700 seniority number, and I think we have 19,000 pilots on property so that’s like 2-2.5ish years.

Yup I'd agree with that... Currently I'm just at 30 pct and it's been 2 years. However we've been hiring at a very rapid pace these last 2 years and it's anyone's guess how long that will continue...

my only reason for leaving is I just feel the long-term prospects of AS not sure how the widebody stuff will go in United seems like a two headed monster that’s gonna gonna be a top dog in the industry
Currently really don’t have any complaints about Alaska just long-term viability of the company if the widebody stuff doesn’t pan out, United seems like a safe bet of not going anywhere

dang that is something I didn’t know about WN lurker here. Almost left AS in 22 for WN (Bay Area local) I’m 18% in sfo at Alaska at 4.5 years how long to to get back to about 25% in sfo if I make the leap to UA? Worth leaving? I keep going back and forth to apply. But the old adage goes there’s no choice till a CJO in hand
plan would be stay in right seat a while wife and lucked into a good house in 2020 so the pay cut is no issue fortunately.
at least til how long till weekends off and no redeye I have not done one 3.5 years not sure if I’m ready to go back

I would be 12% on the Airbus (which I fly) and 8% on the 73.
If you live in the Bay Area you won’t be screwing your life up coming here. After 4-5 years you can go bid Widebody and try that out. Tons of options here which is great.
The current vacancy also has a classmate of mine holding SFO Bus CA. So by the time he goes to training he will be left seat just over 3 years.
Hope this helps. I’ve throughly enjoyed my time working here.
