We can bypass and still keep our seniority, we just wouldn't accrue it for pay purposes until we are back. Been there, got the t-shirt......
Rog - didn't think about the furlough time. My apologies.

No problem, it can be confusing. The major thing that is different this time around, is that (as it stands now) we have recall/bypass rights for 10 years. Last time, we had could bypass on the way down the seniority list, but not on the way back up, so once they got to your number working back up the list, it was decision time. This time, we can say no until the 10 years is up without losing our place in line (absent an ISL that is).

thanks, i understood about the current deal where we come back at the year pay we left but was wondering if there s anything in the works to change that. probably too early to tell.
I think DAL got that in their contract and AMR is either working on it or already has it?

Guess what? CAL management is exactly the same. If you want something, they will ask what you want to give up in return.

Tony Nelson,

Thanks for the clarification. An important thing to remember when ( or if) the time comes. Back in the military now and think I'll stay put for quite a while until the dust settles on this merger.

Thunder1,
Good idea. I wish I still had that option.

Uh, I'd look again (not that I have any fond feelings towards them). Tilton is still on the board and McDonald is COO. I know CAL guys seem more in love with their mgmt (not saying you do if you don't) but to me they are ALL the same. Really doesn't matter either.

After the merger is it will be UA mgmt (CAL name and stock disappear like NW).

I'm a 99' Hire...yeah you read that right....a 99' Hire and I think I will jump at the CAL offer. Sure would like to be based in IAH.

I am trying to figure out where on the list I am, I think I am in the top of the furlough list--Can't pass up $92.00 bucks an hour starting pay!

Hey Sonny,

What is your guess to how something like this would be handled? I'm a 2007 new hire. Lets just assume that a certain percentage of the guys in your seniority range will defer from taking a slot at CAL until the SLI is done. If the recall gets down to me and I go work for CAL...how will it work if someone senior to me (who deferred going to CAL) changes his mind and subsequently takes a slot at CAL. Will that person be junior to me on the CAL list? Will I be bidding senior to that person until the SLI is sorted out and we go back to our merged seniority?

I'm just wondering if a junior UAL recall will keep getting pushed down the list as more and more senior UAL guys accept the offer to work at CAL.
