Thanks, I appreciate that, but I really I just am echoing the sentiment of those whose footsteps I follow.

I actually believe that there's more of that within the entire pilot group, no matter what they say out loud. And it's a good thing that it's that obvious, because senior management is not made of dummies, and they recognize it.

If they don't, they eventually will, just they did some 25 years, 10 months, and 25 days ago, when a seemingly disjointed group of pilots were suddenly so full of unity that they all but shut down United Airlines with a legal work stoppage.

Pay it forward

You guys crack me up, nice that you decided who would be one after the strike, no wonder we got our butts kicked. An absolute joke, please don't call this a union!
Ya, something like that. Maybe you do not know that when the strike ended the war was not over. We expected another strike in "89." That meant we had to recover some of the scabs. It takes about 9 strikers to offset one scab. If we had a crystal ball, the list would have been longer.

When you are on the street, no one cares about your pedigree, just don't move the meat. At that point, all this noble baloney is irreverent, it's about getting everyone back to work. We did that.

Ask the IAM or the industrial unions how they handle scabs, you will be surprised.

Blue Skies was membership ratified I believe. As far as "Straw Votes" regarding ESOP goes, a show of hands by those who made it to the meeting is no measure of what the membership wants. The Rick Dubinsky/Roger Hall posse was so obsessed with ESOP they were willing to have us pay anything for it including the Shuttle B-Scale.

"Blue Skies was membership ratified I believe."

Nope, just road showed and local votes.

The ESOP history is a bit more extensive than your post.

That it was but I couldn't write it all on the iPhone while driving in traffic. the ESOP was a deal that anyone with a 9h grade education wouldn't have voted for.

15.7% pay cut for 5 hrs 9 months
B Fund reduced from 9% to 1%
no ability to contribute to 401k other than post tax
Shuttle/u30 crews took additional 7% pay cut(B Scale)
No Book Rate calculation for U30......
Loss of vacation days for junior pilots
Not allowed to decide for yourself if you wanted this.
Couldn't sell stock until retirement or termination
Paying almost twice the market price for the stock and it has no voting rights.
NO SNAP BACK. At the end if the ESOP you wouldn't get pay restored but you also stop receiving stock.

It is like being forced to buy a house you don't want for twice the market value and when you pay offthe house the bank won't sign it over to you and the best part is since there was no snap back you have to negotiate your way to be able to stop making payments.
