Revived the thread as my wife got her passport (I didn't think it was possible, so quickly). It would just be the two of us.
Wife wants to go to Spain or Italy; I'm thinking Munich, go through Austria (have a friend there) by car or rail, and end up in Italy. Maybe Canada, if we get time-limited to short trips. Will be next month, which I hope is past the peak travel season, and therefore, a little easier for space-A.
I also have military space-A as an option.
Questions:
1. Looking at WebList today, the flights to Madrid are apparently A-330-200s. Snooping on the web, it appears it is Aer Lingus and a code-share. We get to ride those?
Does United metal fly to Rome, Munich, or Madrid?
2. Can I use jumpseat authority on International flights, or is it specific to a carrier, or a nation's rules?
3. I don't have an iPhone or wireless laptop, so computer access while travelling is often hit or miss. There is a way to list on United flights by phone.
How does one list on CO flights by phone, or will gate agents help you out?
4. Anyone have space-A experience in these markets? Right now, Munich looks good for getting accross the pond.

Sometimes it's better to just not go on vacation. (I'm a 30+ yr military retiree)1. Yes, you can list on the AerLingus flight. A friend of mine got his family to/from in F.
My nephew flew on AerLingus in Y in late June, although there were quite a few Y seats open. It looks like an 'easy' flight to get to/from Europe.
United metal to Rome and Munich.
2. You can jumpseat international. I haven't done it in more than 10 years so someone else with more current experience would have to answer your question. But you can jumpseat on most carriers.
3. Wow you really don't nonrev.

800-UAL-LIST.
I don't know how to do it on the CAL side; I've got a laptop and droid phone.
IAD-MUC isn't a bad way to get there; I used that flight to get my son to Europe last December right after Christmas.
I think that you can forget about trying to get to Rome.
Flying in/out of Madrid would be my recommendation but stay flexible.
When are you looking at a trip?

Military space-A an option????

Yes, a last resort from Ramstein! IE, if I can't get on UA and leave is ending!

Yeah, I know that one...just wondered about CAL.

Was playing around on EmployeeRes today, they've swapped the logos over to United and a little bit of change in the format now as they combine systems I guess. Still works the same way.
I did see a flight from EWR to PHL (just a random pick I made) that showed 24 business class seats, with zero first and zero economy capacity and listed it as a 753. Guess they have some kinks to work out still.
Random question - if there are two seats open in first and ten people on upgrade standby and you have booked in first non-rev, do you get the seat before the upgrade standbys or do they go first then non-revs?

Flights SHOULD be less crowded at that time. Another option is ZRH. My daughter and her cousin were able to get C on the flight both ways. They flew out of IAD ~20 Dec and came back ~10 Jan.
Sorry, I don't know of any CAL phone res #.
I think you'd have better luck on UAL/CAL metal than Space A. I don't know how Space is nowadays but it used to be a nightmare.
Upgradeable standbys go first. Those are elite frequent flyers. With our f$King unlimited domestic upgrade policy it's become nearly impossible to fly in F domestically. I'm happy when I've got an aisle in E+.

Well, since the Skynet side has been all show and no go since inception it's only logical that CAL would have a much better better product. Thankfully CALs online experience will drag UAL's IT into the current decade. Lets hope that the system gets even more improvement.

Drag us Where?? that Must be in the non reve listing because that's ONLY where they have an advantage, Wait till you go BACK to Log Books because thay CAN'T come up to speed for aircraft Information. From what I've seen so far? I'm NOT that Inpressed. A Lot of old School thinking there. No wonder they have so many guys doing a single job, They Need them! Were I that inefficient? I'd need more manpower too!
