Default Recall offer in the mail

Got an email telling me a FedEx package with a job offer at L-Cal would be on my doorstep this week. Class in May, offers reaching down to my DOH, 06Aug00 (11.5 years, 3 activations, and 3 cubicle jobs ago....same wife and house, no boat(s) or mistresses tho.....even if I came back to the line, I'll never make captain with stats like that )

I'll be declining the offer to take a $27k+/year paycut to commute and sit reserve in EWR and not get a raise until there is a JCBA or I've been at Continental for five years.

It's better for my family and me to sit on the sidelines this time and watch this all play out from my comfy GS Johnny cubicle job. Happily went back to UAL lamb to the slaughter style in 2006 only to end up furlough fodder once again in 2009....fool me once.

I'll get fooled twice, just not right now. See ya'll around the campus circa 2015 or so when you can color me....

Error on his part. I got the same email; here's what it said about class dates:
3. Class date assignments are planned for March 20, 2012 and April 3, 2012, depending on seniority.

Once again my new hire medical in 2000 at United has delayed my start date. I probably would have been in this class (6 Aug). I was delayed by medical until the 27 Aug 2000 class for some additional paperwork. After that delay, UAL started new hires without having their medical complete. I probably would have been off probation during my 5 year furlough with a small bit of furlough pay on round 1. Missed it by only a couple of days. Oh well, after 12 years I sit at 438 from the bottom. Since I have gone to the darkside (FAA), I will also have a difficult decision when the offer finally comes. Cubicle life is painful. Not sure I can stay here much longer. I plan on passing for now. Fortunately, I have been offered a T-6 transition in the reserves. I might be able to hang out at NSE for another 5 years.

Oops. Sorry. March....May...whatever it takes. Didn't mean to give bum scoop. In my defense, I was distracted by my mistress whispering in my ear that it's time to get out on the boat.

How far back do the current furloughs go? Andy said he was hired Jun 2000. Is that about it or do they go back farther?

I didn't even know what month they were offering me a class date in , so I'm going to have to defer to someone else on the board on an exact date, but I'm an Aug 2000 hire and had over 900 guys senior to me on the furlough list. I think invol furloughs stretched all the way back to late '99 hires, but not sure.
